Couldn't care less what someone else drinks. If I happen to go out to a place that may not have a beer that interests me I am certainly not going to complain about the lack of craft options, I would probably just order a Jack and Coke instead. Same thing applies if I go to a friends house for a BBQ or party.

Sometimes the attitude annoys me, went to a trendy restaurant one night and was sitting at the bar. Their craft beer selection consists of pretty standard fare like DFH 90 min, dead guy ale, Lagunitas IPA etc etc. Guy sits next to me orders a Bud Light bartender looks at him and says dont have it but I could gladly poor you a glass of water which would be better. Keep in mind this place has Coors Light, Miller Lite etc.

I couldn't agree more with this.

Any bartender worth their salt would say, "we don't have Bud Light but we have this beer which is similar this respect", explain the similarity, and ask if they are interested.

The funny thing is, the bartenders I come across that really know their stuff, are also the most helpful with customers that know the least.

    Its funny how that works.

I drink/drank a lot macro in my day, and none of my friends are into craft beer, so I'm definitely not looking cool to anyone.

Definitely! I witnessed this just the other day at the bar at my local Whole Foods. A couple of older gentlemen asked for Shiner Bock and the bartender said they didn't have it but that they had a couple of Oktoberfest beers that were similar and he offered them both a sample of each. They both ended up buying the beer. They even sampled a sour after asking what I was drinking (JK Vulgar Affectation) but thought it tasted like pickle juice haha never thought of that but in a way they were right.

I rarely drink macro, but if I'm at a friend's house or a party and that's all there is, I have a macro (as long as it's not light beer, I just can't do light beers, never could)

I'd much rather be satisfied than being cool.

    That's not true for everybody.

OP, you're an adult, and yet you're worried about what others think of the beer you drink. You don't think that's kind of pathetic?

    I agree!

Though HS for me ended in 2008... and I had no hope of being cool then, so I didn't even attempt to care (I was a really wierd teen, and am probably only slightly less weird now as an "adult." Or more weird depending on perspective.)

Well, I think I'm pretty rad.
    • I love PBR. I don't just like it. I love it.
    • I probably drink more Narragansett than any one other brand if we're talking about having a go-to beer.
    • When I'm on a plane or at the airport, I start with a (preferably local) craft beer (On a plane if I can't get anything craftish, I'll do my best and go with the "fanciest" thing they have- sometimes that means Heineken) and then switch to Miller Lite for any following beers.
    • That same Miller Lite is like liquid gold on a hot day at a cookout.
    • I refuse to be "that guy" who whines about a buddy's beer selection and refuses to have one on the basis of only Bud being available.
What it comes down to is that I strongly believe that there is a time and a place for everything.

If drinking craft beer is cool, consider me Miles Davis:sunglasses:

It makes you poorer for sure. If anything, I am a little jealous of the macro drinkers. I still drink some High Life, ong with some other cheap beers, but the days of 30 packs are gone. Those were good days.
