I had a bottle of Stone Vertical Epic 02.02.02 (along with a couple other vintages) that were taken by our landscaper who was told the beer in the fridge was fair game. He assumed that meant the beer in the temperature controlled fridge in the basement was fair game as well. The worst part? He dumped it saying it had gone bad. That was a fun thing to replace.

Beer is serious business apparently! What good is having whalez if you can't post about it here because your wife drinks them not knowing how many internet props you'd get!

Not an expensive beer but, I had a Community Mosaic IPA in the fridge (which happens to be my favorite) and when I came home, I asked my GF what happened to my last IPA. She said "oh my mom wanted a beer so I gave it to her" Not a problem till she told me she didn't like it and drain poured.... :slight_frown::flushed:

Maybe not exactly the same, but for us it's more when she opens something she wants to split when I had other thoughts on what I wanted to drink. Adjust and move on is pretty much the only choice at that point.

My roommate had friends over about 2 years ago and one of them opened my only BCBS I had from that year.

At least he enjoyed it. My friend made it up to me and took me to a tap takeover for GI and I had 2 of them and a free dinner.

Luckily my wife doesn't really drink (though she's shown some interest in Tree House Eureka!) and also knows how precious my stash is. Most of my stuff isn't really rare/cellared, but I'd be sad to find that her and some friends ripped through my Julius stash. Sorry bro!

Zero. I have the off limits stuff separate. My wife knows what to ask about first and my friends aren't dicks.

My father in law while working in my basement drank a Backwoods Bastard and a KBS I had been aging. At least he had good tastes.

There's plenty of beer for my wife and I, so I have no problem.

In my house, the policy among friends is "you're allowed to drink anything you've heard of". This covers the normal macro stuff, the local flagships, etc. and keeps people away from stuff I generally only have one of. My beer geek friends know what different beers are well enough that they don't touch rare stuff to not be jerks. My girlfriend has a system where every bottle in her beer fridge and cellar has a green/yellow/red label on the cap. Green is fair game for anybody, yellow is ask first, red is "you touch, you die".

    Leftovers Shelf.
Gotta have one in the beer fridge. It's what everyone else leaves behind after parties, bbqs, and gatherings. We have quite a few, so there is always a solid mix of AALs, ciders, and malt beverages for anyone to grab from.
The craft drinkers of course bring their own!

Hasn't happened to me; most of my family won't drink my "weird beer" as they call it, so I guess I'm kinda lucky.
And now that we have moved to Florida I don't think it will be a problem ever, since my family is still up North in PA.

Why would your wife and her friends just go through your cellar without asking you?

She works in the life and health insurance business, so mostly those people got gifted new life insurance policies. We're currently scouting out empty fields. It should be a profitable year coming up, lol.

Eh, my old roommate in college would grab expensive or rare stuff because he liked the artwork after 5 High Lifes. Never lost anything too precious. It was worth seeing some Bourbon County sneak up on him and give its own retribution.

Keep a case of bud lite in the fridge, that just shouts "general consumption!"

None actually. My wife doesn't like beer and friends would always ask. You could get one of those metal gun safes and install a refrigeration unit.

My girlfriend I live with know's me all to well. She'll never open a beer she's not 100% sure she can have without me. However, she does drink all the PseudoSue when I bring it home. But that's become a shelf beer here in MKE.
