With proxies it would be gone already! I love how CW does these releases though.

Brown paper tickets seems to be the best way to control the poaching and mule hoarding...and the jerks that try to circle back through lines with a change of clothes

You can sign up as many mules as you want through BPT. They just have to physically come with you that day. For BA Silhouette for example, I can use the same email/account to sign up myself, fiancee, mom, dad, grandpa, 3rd grade teacher, mailman, etc. Just keep pumping through names until the tickets sell out. Then you just need to convince that person to go that day to pick up the beers. Or if you're really smart you ask them in advance if they'll mule, but I prefer to live dangerously and hope I can persuade them between now and the release. I mean, Amherst is only 3.5 hours from my house, they'll do it if they really love me.

Eh, that's fine but you have to convince them to go. 3.5 hours is a significant drive if they couldn't care less.

Have two people sign up, show up and buy your 10 total bottles, stick around and buy 2 more at 4pm, then drive to cabin with a case total.

Besides, very little is going to 100% control mule hoarding - but at least this prevents the need for crazy lines, prevents people from changing clothes and getting back in line. Anything that limits unique purchases to unique in person people is better than anything else. I wish Surly did BPT. Waiting in line 12-18 hours is lame. Beyond that you can't do much better other than a lottery with unique in person no proxy pick ups. That would really prevent any sort of trickery.

I think his point was more so that BPT (or Eventbrite) is not perfect. Yes, better than a free for all or allowing proxies, but with a little effort, you can still hoard it.

Plus, BPT having issies for the BASS release was no good.

Indeed that was my point. If someone is dedicated enough to employ a tactic like switching clothes/putting on a hat and going back through a line then they'll have no problem getting the same or more bottles through BPT.

It does make it a touch harder since you can't convince a potentially homeless person to hang out in line with you for an extra allotment, but if you plan ahead there is no problem getting multiple names in. I saw plenty of wives and girlfriends at Lift Bridge last year for BA silhouette, so I don't think I'm sharing any earth-shattering news when I say this.

My wife was in line for BA Silhouette, but she also won't let me drink the beer with out her... so maybe I am her mule?

I already can't wait for BA Silhoutte's release next year. I really enjoy their release parties, last years was really low key and they had plenty of good beer on tap. Batch 800 was really something great!

Yeah I married for a life long mule, but once she fell in love with certain types a beer I became the mule. We need a support group!
