I was just walking around Shirlington and I saw multiple places with the details of their happy hour specials on signs outside. Which I have not seen before in Virginia and thought was illegal.

I still don't get the new law or what purpose it really serves. My understanding of it, which passed in January, was that bars & restaurants can advertise on walls/windows outside their restaurant that they have a happy hour and what time it runs (i.e. "Join Us for Happy Hour 3-5 every day"). I could be wrong but I am pretty sure they still cannot advertise specifics on pricing right on their window facing outside ($2 off all drafts 3-5). They can only promote that they do have Happy Hour and times. Pretty sure these days just about every bar & restaurant has a happy hour so nothing most don't know. That being said, I have seen several establishments posting more details other boards and signs facing outside for patrons passing by to see so maybe it has eased up more than my understanding of what the can actually do under the rules of the law.

Hmmm... never heard of this, hadn't really noticed. You just know a happy hour will run 3/4 til 6/7, right? If I had a business, I would have thought of ways to skirt around it... put out signs like:

    HORA FELIZ CUATRO-SIETE
    or
    appy-hay ora-hay or-fay oo-tay even-say

This is all 100% correct. The Virginia ABC is just...ugh. Antiquated laws for everyone!
