Totally understandable, but there is a huge US slant to our top 250 "best beer list"

Im curious as to which international beers and international breweries you will go out of your way to get a taste of... Which beers/breweries can you find and enjoy in the states and which ones will you seek out if you're abroad?

I would seek out Brasserie des Franches-Montagnes, Birra del Borgo and the five major Munich beer temples.

Oh, yeah, I would also crawl on my knees to go to Cantillon anytime I could.

    Rochefort 8 & 10 for me.

Granted, I'm not well-versed in the world of imported beers, but from what I've had, these are the stand-outs.

Would love to try anything from Brasserie Cantillon, but so far it's proven difficult.

Yes there is a huge slant to the top 250 for American beers.

Go to each traditional beer style (skip American ones, like American IPA) and look at the best examples within those styles that are non-American. You could make a nice starter list from that point.

Peche Mortel is my personal favorite non-American beer.

    There's no winning this, but...
Orval. For what it's worth (turned my very early opinion of Belgians...)

According to my ratings on here, it's:

    Cantillon 100% gueuze
    Gulden Draak
    Abbaye Des Rocs Grand Cru.

I'd have to put Traquair House Ale and Gueuze Tilquin up there too.

Delirium Tremens and Duvel. Maybe not best ever but super high on my list of favorites.

Pretty much anything made by a foreign monk doesn't suck.

Bourbon Barrel Moord and Brand RIS from De Molen. I put it right up there with BCBS, KBS and Black Note.

Honorable mentions go to Peche Mortel and Rochefort 10.

Duvel and Orval for me. Probably not the biggest baddest or best, but for me I find them to be very consistent and readily available, and above all else, absolutely delicious. If I ever made it to Belgium, visiting the place where Duvel is made would be #1 priority.

I have not gotten into Belgians yet, the highest rated I have is Mikkeller's Mosaic Imperial India Pale Ale.

Pannepot Grand Reserva '05 75cl format, pretty much any Drie Fontienen, but the Armand 4 Seasons especially. Then as others have mentioned, most Belgian triples/strong dark ales are awesome. For a site that is overwhelmingly comprised of Americans, there are a lot of foreign beers in the top 250 and for good reason.

Which one? I'd put their Hefeweizen and Korbinian up there.

Orval is certainly one of the greats.
