Hey James, saw your skull tavern comment. Are the bottles already available for pick up for those of us who pre-paid? Was thinking about stopping by after work.

I think it would be cool if Cake was released at Kane and Night to End All Dawns was released down south. That way you would combine my two fav threads into one classic mash up thread.

And I thought I was the only one feverishly following both threads.

Talked with Edward on Monday. He is thinking about only selling bottles at the brewery for on site consumption. That way no one will complain about missing out on the release. No mules buying it all up, no secondary BS, everyone will get a chance at it. Just have to go to the brewery to drink it.

@mikeincharleston that would be the best idea ever. Also it would curtail all the douchey facebook trade threads

    I'm pretty sure that's redundant ...

That would take a lot of the fun out of it.

Fun only applies to those not working the release.

Whatever. It's Westbrook's beer, they can do what they want with it. By selling it for consumption on-site, they can probably charge more per bottle and make more money as well (bar price vs store price).

More breweries should do that for super limited stuff.

If they hold the bottles for on-site consumption, why did they go through the hassle of bottling them in the first place instead of just going draft only?

Takes up less cooperage which is needed to fill kegs with year round stuff. Also with bottles you can keep exact count of amount sold. The bartenders won't be able to "slip you" a little sample you can "tick". Makes sense

At what price tho, $50 a bottle or the $30-$35 they sold for last year? If the $30-35 retail price...cool!! If major markup, not cool.

-Devil's advocate here, but now the opportunity is to allow a whole bottle get out of the brewery. Wonder what the secondary market would say about an "unavailable" bottle.

-The longer this thing drags out, the more kardazian it feels.

I would be surprised if they want to hang on to 3000+ bottles. Even after the hype prior to last year's release and the fairly generous bottle limits, wasn't there enough beer for some people to get back in line for a second allotment?

I would think lower limits and slightly higher price should be enough to even things out. If they can't physically andle the crowd this year that is another story and a ticketed release could solve that. But if there is a low (under 400?) bottle count variant such as the Pappy, in house only for that specific bottle could make a lot of sense. It would lessen the craziness of the bottle release and probably be good for business.
