Place looks awesome. I work in El Segundo and live in Hawthorne so if it's good, I will be frequenting.

One problem. I can't see the whole menu anywhere. Good reviews on yelp though.

could be a good bargaining chip to get my girlfriend to go to El Segundo with me. which is a tougher sell since they don't have food

Food or allowing dogs is a the best way to get my wife to agree to go too. Otherwise it is a trading system for us.

Excited for today's Power Plant Triple IPA release! I'll be driving about 40 miles each way to fill my bottle bag with these bad boys. Same Day Dankness! Hop Hop Hooray!

I mean, I like what they're doing with the same day thing, but I found last go around that power plant needed a solid week to get to that right taste for me.

There's a novelty and respectable aspect to bottling and on shelves within the day, but sometimes it just needs a little time.

I also had my doubts, but I tapped a keg of it this morning and I gotta say it's tasting A++. A bit green, but not overly so, a touch of sweetness with a nice dry finish. Crazy drinkable at 11.3%.

i'm a big fan of ESBC beers, especially Hop Tanker (and Danker Tanker) and Hammerland. i thought the last version of Power Plant was almost too much. i never thought i could reach my limit, but with that one i thought it was too much. that said, i'm curious to try it again and will be buying some

Just had some at "lunch", I think it's tasting great right now, seems a little more balanced than previous versions

Love their choice of hops for the Powerplant. With Beachwood and El Segundo I think they make they better tasting TIPA's out there.

Absolutely spot on observation. Beer needs a little time to knit it's flavor and body structure together. Point in fact was the last BW release of Citraholic that absolutely needed a few days to re-arrange itself.

    Cheers……..

I wonder if they'd have been better off not naming themselves after El Segundo. They make some great beer, but a couple of times peoples' first reaction to them is 'Ew, El Segundo' before trying it.

Sounds like a response from someone who has never been to El Segundo.

There's a reason why its nickname is "Mayberry".

Its a pretty nice small town.

This always blows my mind about El Segundo. It is like a small quite town that's nestled right in the mist of a giant metropolis. It doesn't even feel like its next to the ocean

Those people must not be hip to median South Bay home prices.
I work in El Segundo and if I had a extra million laying around, it would be on my list of places to look to buy a home.

El Segundo is great. I like that it's still a sleepy beach town and you can easily find parking on a weekend, which you can't say for other beach towns in LA. The only bummer is if you're on the side closer to the airport. Don't think I'd want to live around there. But otherwise El Segundo has some really charming neighborhoods

On ESBC's Facebook page they've announced a Wet Hop Weekend event on the release of a wet hop version of Mayberry IPA.
They will also have 2 other IPA releases…well one pale ale (hopped up).

    Wet-hop Simcoe Pale
Same recipe you've seen in the past iterations of this brew.. but sub in freshly harvested Simcoe!

Citramongous DIPA (also wet-hop.. get the theme?)
We thought.. how is it we haven't made a DIPA with Citra fresh hops yet.. seems a crime. Consider that resolved.

I'm digging on that Citramongous DIPA.
The problem is…wet hops can be a hit or miss for me. But Mayberry is already a great IPA from these guys. A couple of years back BW put out one of their first wet hop IPA's and I thought it was a disaster. But it did clean up after a couple of weeks of sitting in the tanks.
