Much as I like ET, I'd prefer they pick an actual NY brewery rather than a Scandi brewer with a bar in Brooklyn who has a good beer brewed in SC

 

Can't quibble too much with Great Lakes Blackout, as that is a fantastic RIS.

Jackie O's Dark Apparition beats it as far as I'm concerned, but not by so much that I'd say Blackout has no business on that list.

 

An absolute no-brainer for Illinois IMO!

Texas Pumpkinator is not correct. It's good but not the best. Maybe Sputnik from Austin beer Works.

 

I agree with Parabola for California.

 

Mother Earth Silent Night is at least as good as The Event Horizon imo. If barrel aged stouts are eliminated from the conversation I would go with Duck Rabbit Rabid Duck.

 

Considering that most Imperial Biscotti Break actually is brewed at Westbrook in South Carolina...

Oh, never mind.

 

I'm definitely in agreement with Canadian Breakfast Stout from Founders for Michigan.

 

Montana and Wyoming are correct. Idaho is off. List says Dogfather but it's a thin BA stout with a cheap whiskey and strange cola flavor coming through. Just had Black Cauldron from Grand Teton, not barrel aged but far and away a better Imperial stout.

Good pick for Tennessee. Best low abc coffee stout I know of.

 

What would you suggest is better? SMS is an awesome beer with a pretty unique taste.

 

Nothing, but I think some people think author created the list on their own, like so many other lists.
