just keep an eye on their facebook. unannounced releases are fairly rare for them, so you'll usually have some notice.

as Lapalou said, they are essentially trying to minimize the muss and fuss their releases cause their neighbors.

There's no good reason for the high limits. It encourages hoarding which means less beer for the Floridians who support their business and more beer for out of state trade partners.

Apparently the 6 bottle limit still wasn't enough for some of the people there...

i think doug is more concerned with keeping his neighboring businesses happy and not about the few people who will buy a lot to trade. there are always going to be people buying a bunch to trade. sometimes it's via higher limits, some times it's via mules. this isn't a unique situation in the hobby, and it's certainly not one that is his job to try and police.

Anyone know what barrels were used for Pallet 4? Specifically the brand of spirit? And Doug can release these bottles any way he wants. His business. His call. Same for every other brewery out there.

I think this is a great way to sell bottles without the fuss. Being an hour away, it didn't work for me personally and rarely does, but I completely understand why they do it.

It can take an hour for people who live in Tampa too depending on where you're coming from and what time.

Both of these are still on tap at the brewery

"No reason" from your perspective. But then again, you're not the business owner that has to deal with the logistics of storing a large number of bottles/cases in a limited space.

That's what they said for the first pallet release which was understandable with cases of Rare Dos sitting at the brewery for ten days. Don't think it applies in this case.

if i was doug, or someone in his shoes... and i saw all these armchair brewers/business owners yapping about how he should do things, i'd intentionally do crazy/convoluted releases just to piss you people off.

instead, he just brews really great beer and wants a minimum amount of hassles and headaches for it. he's definitely a better man than i.

6 limit is perfect (even though I'd never buy that many) buy limit of both and leave with 1 box of beer!

Yeah I don't know how a lot of people are able to throw down the cash for the max allotment every release. It adds up fast.

I doubt you'd like any version that doesn't result in you getting bottles...which is the same for most all of us!

But seriously, why wouldn't he want to monetize all that product and quickly and with the least amount of fuss possible?!

He literally didn't even need to have extra help yesterday...no tickets...no lines...no ticking off his neighbors (who DO sit out there and complain about the line)...very little mules. Quick cash, quick growth and expansion. Sold in a few hours so you don't even have to bother with phone calls long! #brilliance

My advice on the people who missed out that are just far enough out to not wanna risk it..Is to make friends tat go to these releases..if you help people out, they will help you out when releases come up...expand your beer network. it is not a surprise that the same people get every whale release that comes out...MD, props, BC variants, Good Morning, cases of NE ipas...ever wonder why? because that person helps out these people..

It takes me about an hour 20 minutes to get to CCB...Cycle is probably another 45 minutes to an hour, depending time of day or traffic. There is no way to justify risking coming down for bottles and missing out, so i have reached out to people i know that are into craft beer, or not into craft beer, to go down when these releases come about.

the best part is, i have made so many friends in the greater tampa area doing this. They help me out when they can (and when limits are this high, it usually happens), and I help them out with stuff they cannot get. @floridadrift is a prime example of someone who reached out to me when he had an extra cycle beer, and we have become pretty good friends since then. He got me some pallet 1/2 because i missed out...he missed out on Pallet 3/4,and guess what? he is getting helped out by me. If you try hard enough, you can get the beer without much hassle. you just have to be willing to be generous with people who help you out, and you'll be surprised at how much of these lower count releases appear in your cellar.

Bravo Doug. Keep doing what you're doing. If you can stroll in and drink on tap, you can still enjoy. Sounds like a win win to me even if you did not get bottles
