I, for one, would welcome an actual (legible/understandable) explanation of what 'was heard.'
Not because this event was anything less than an amazing and successful event in support of a good cause, but because it's really easy to suggest there were issues when hidden behind innuendo and speculation.
If for no other reason than it will allow us to disregard this crap.
For the record, this is the same as when he complained about 'having' to spend more than he wanted to enjoy Bourbon County on tap at Belmont Station because he didn't want to support the proceeds going to charity. He just knows now people will call him out if he doesn't say some mythical other people were complaining instead of himself.
It's in these same forums. The BC debacle that is.
    Sigh.
    Yay beer?

The event was superb. Great beer on tap for a good price. Auction was fun. It's a great cause.
Complaining about not getting the bottles you wanted is just...

    The simple facts are this.

    1. I arrived on time and waited in line to get in.
    2. I grabbed my glass of Cantillon and said hi to a few people.
    3. I leisurely strolled around the auction tables multiple times and at that point none of the lots were sold.

That is, I had seen all of the lots and had the same chance as anyone to put down a "buy it now" bid for any of them.

Maybe someone did end up buying their own donation, but to me that is irrelevant. Anyone would have had more than enough time to foil their evil plan and "buy it now" before them if they were so inclined.

I challenge anyone to find something unfair about the above chain of events. Rumors or not, you can't argue with the basic logic of the situation.

I think each year this event gets better and better. Organization, the beers on tap, the beers up for auction, the venue, the amount of help - basically everything. I thought last year BFNA was the best event of 2014 and I suspect it will be once again this year. Really, my only complaint is the amount of money I couldn't spend (but wanted to) due to keeping a reasonable budget for the event.

One suggestion for next year - it would have been really nice to have a water station inside upstairs for the GA event. I know, walking outside wasn't that big of a deal, but when you're drinking, you want the barriers to water as low as possible.

    Cheers.

Really impressed with what I've read about this event on this thread. I have not attended in the past, but will be putting it on the list of things to attend next year. Keep up the good work. It's amazing the fundraising you've accomplished with beer.

We, the chairs, have already talked about this. We will have a lot more water around next year, and maybe some coffee too:slight_smile: and an earlier live auction start time:slight_smile: and...

Thanks again everyone for the support, we hope you love the event as much as we do. We are already working on Brews 2016. If you have any other comments, questions, or suggestions for the event please contact us.

    Cheers
    Don

I could see a potential issue. I experienced it, as more of a damn, I totally missed out on that chance to buy it now... That someone early could get the apparent deals. I helped set up and was there before it opened... And I still missed out. Lol. Though it didn't occur to me to look into that. I did get a buy it now about 40 minutes after open. I did also kick myself for somehow missing other buy it nows I wish I could have gotten... While I understand the deals, it may be better to open them after everyone is... Or the majority of the vips are in. Is that what everyone was complaining about?
Maybe open the room... Kegs... Then open the auction. No sneak peaks on prices, no nothing. Auction opens like 30 to 60 after?

Agree w/ Crusian. Delay the VIP auction start until 30 min after opening the doors. Plus more water stations at the GA event.
I've attended all the BFNA's and give tremendous thanks to Jessica Jeremy James Don & Andy for putting on a great event year after year. And thanks for listening to feedback; every year the event gets better. Props & Cheers to you all!
