Just wanted to give a shout out to BLDG8 Brewing in Northampton. They just opened today and have put out a killer IPA. I know there's no shortage of IPAs in the area, but I feel like these guys are doing it right for a new, small brewery. Focus on one product, and nail it. As opposed to pumping out 10-15 different mediocre beers. If you are in the Northampton, MA area, do yourself a favor and stop by and try this one out.
I thought it was good. Nice to have that option within walking distance and I will definitely keep trying it as they tune it in more. It had a nice aroma, bright hops with a light malt, reasonably bitter finish, but not in a bad way. Its a solid IPA that is worth a try. Plus it was their first run, so as they dial it in it should round into form. Plus the owners run a good restaurant, Sierra Grille, in town, which has a well curated beer list, so they have a great background.
Plus, I am pretty picky. I have been disappointed by a bunch of other local breweries that in my opinion are a little too malty. Best comparison I can come up with locally is Brewmaster Jack, who is doing some good things lately.
love IPAs in the wake of heady topper that still aren't afraid to have some bitterness. this is one of the main things i love about steady habit. you'll get the hop juice, but you won't forget you're drinking an IPA, if that makes sense.
Stopped in this weekend. Really solid stuff. Definitely bitter, but flavorful and with a really great aroma. A nice little tasting room, too. I'll definitely buy more. I'm hoping they'll do a full lineup of beers and not just an IPA, though.
Was lucky enough to get a 4 pack of this and just have to say that if this is what Bldg 8 is starting off with, big things are in store. Can only hope to stop by before I assume they blow up like Tree House.
I just opened a few cans that I had left over from the opening weekend run--not much as dropped off and they still taste very good. I'm excited to have these guys only 10 minutes from my doorstep!
