This was our first or second bottle at Zwanze day at Spuyten Duyvil in Brooklyn. Other beers we quaffed: Iris, Scarenbecca Kreik, a number of Gose's (which really helped with the heat) and of course the Zwanze release. Happy to have popped my Zwanze day cherry!

In 1066 the Norman's conquered England and just shortly before WBAYDN 1066 Maria conquered Fruit PLANET! Cheers everyone .

    Yesterday I had these -

Actual toasty malt on a citric hop. I like GI again for an easy to like beer and a blur between styles. This was so close to an Oktoberfest but then went all DFH on me!

Extremely bland pumpkin ale here -

ONe of the best Pale Ales I have ever seen. It's after the style of English I think or a slight variation and a good firm streak of pleasant caramel will show you that. Also this beer will show you dank and onion flavor from hops that is not off putting. Quite delicious.

ANd what am I drinking now?

I have a feeling there will be cooking -

One pan, one hand egg break and breakfast for one.

It's called Wa-bay-den (WBAYDN) and it's a mythical place where people eat drink and make merry every single day. I'm already there . Happy Monday everyone and cheers BA!

Good morning/good night! A little past midnight (Monday) and wrapping up with Black Sands Brewing Co.'s "West Coast Black Ale", a black IPA from Auckland, NZ:

Hoppy/earthy/citrusy. Bitter. Has a bitter pine aftertaste that I'm not grooving on...kinda metallic...pity.

Earlier today we stumbled onto a brewery in Browns Bay - Deep Creek Brewing Co.; tasty beers on tap, and I brought home a bottle for later...

Have a great Monday - Cheers!

    Morning, BA's

    Happy Monday

Local Hoppin' Frog Pumpkin brew....pretty tasty - went to brewery last week, as they advertised a special release of a Port Barrel aged Pumpkin version - got a glass at the tasting room.....tasted like the regular pumpkin to me! Only $22 a bomber - pass
Another Akron / local brewery to me - Thirsty Dog - is supposedly releasing a BA version of their Pumpkin - aged in bourbon barrels....hope their price will be a bit more realistic!

    Cheers all!

Really liked Fruitlands by Modern Times. I like the sour beers that are not mouth puckering sour. This one reminded me of one of the New Glarus fruit beers.

Good almost noon, BAs! Another undeserved beautiful day in NW PA - sometimes living here is nearly enjoyable. Today's breakfast is a long-time favorite:

This is actually What Beer Were You Drinking Before Posting (WBWYDBP) since I drank it while reading and responding to other threads, but it's close enough for government work - +/- 2 SDs. Right at this moment WBAYDN is Eddie Fitz - cleaning out my cellar and reefer.

We just got back from our annual pilgrimage to Charlotte to watch a Panthers home game. We had a nice tasting Saturday night followed by the Panthers first home win of the season on Sunday . Bank of America Stadium is definitely ahead of the curve on the craft beer movement.

Breakfast. A superior, top-shelf Bourbon Barrel Aged Scotch Ale. Just wow.

    Review :

    4.71/5 rDev +9%
    look: 4.25 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 5 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.75

Appearance : Pours a chocolate mahogany colored body with a beige 3 finger head. Opacity is 90%. The head is tightly knit, leaving hills of lace on the glass as it recedes slowly. It sticks at about 1 finger after 5 minutes.

Aroma : Lots of richness. Horehound, molasses, anise, aged malt, black karo syrup, and a slight oaky aroma. Plum can also be nosed, actually like plum candy.

Taste : Wow. Flavorful is the word. A thick fruity sweetness from plum and date invades the palate with the burn and bite of Bourbon, richness of vanilla, the roasted sweetness of aged malt mix, ending with a finale of fresh picked cherry, coconut, and chocolate.

Feel : Sticky, syrupy, and sweet - but not too thick. It's very enjoyable. Moderate carbonation buzzes underneath the wave of thick syrupy sweetness. A lick of the lips lifts more of that sticky plum and cherry as it lingers there from the sip.

Overall : World-class offering. It's simply fantastic. Best Scotch ale ever? I still have a spot in my heart for Kilt Lifter...but this is on another plane completely. Price not a factor, nor sessionability, this is the superior Scotch Ale and the best Scotch I've had.
