Had this again over the weekend out to dinner with my family in York at the River Landing. Surprised to say I found myself ordering a 2nd one. I actually find this to be a pretty good beer and could see them tweaking this to dial in a flagship. Does anyone feel the same or have a favorite?

My least favorite LHBC beer is Boomsauce; I just don't think the blend works. I like the other three beers on their own, just wish they all had more aroma and less cystal/caramel malt flavor. I tried them all a couple of times each, and B & B is my favorite. Hope all the beers improve.

I preferred Consolation Prize the most, but other than that you nailed my thoughts exactly regarding too much caramel maltiness and too little hop aroma throughout the lineup. More than anything else, I just find their beers confusing in that they simply don't seem to align with the stated goals of the brewery. I see Boom Sauce in practically every store I frequent these days and it just makes me sad because, while it may or may not be a good beer in its own right, it simply is in no way going to scratch the itch for a "NE style" IPA, which was to my understanding its entire reason for being.

The funny thing about the Hobo beers is that everyone seems to have their own favorite (if they're actually willing to give them a chance). I am with the OP myself in liking Steal This Can. As they've been dialing in the system, that beer has gotten drier.

I've tried Boom Sauce, Steal This Can and Ball & Biscuit and have been underwhelmed by all of them. Agree that these all come across much maltier than you'd expect for something called "hoppy".

They have a huge operation in Woburn and they have cases of beer that was canned a month ago sitting on shelves in high traffic stores. Could be an issue if they don't improve these.

Lord Hobo really botched their rollout. If you're going to blitz the media prior to opening, saying you're going to make IPAs as good as Hill Farmstead, the Alchemist, Lawson's, Trillium, etc. but more readily available, you damn well better deliver on day one. Lanigan set a goal that was almost certainly going to be impossible to achieve, at least not immediately. I don't live far from Woburn and was in the area one day so I stopped in and tried the lineup. Not bad beer, but Heady Topper and Double Sunshine it is not. If not for the hype and the high standard they set, I probably would have walked out being somewhat impressed with a brand-new operation. Might they get to that initial goal one day? Maybe, but they're not there yet. They've alienated so many people with this rollout that they better hope they stay in business long enough to have the chance.

I stopped in at the brewery yesterday and wanted to share my thoughts, particularly on Steal This Can, which was my favorite. I am, generally speaking, not a huge fan of the Trillium/Treehouse type juice bomb and was curious about the Lord Hobo lineup. Steal This Can had the clearest appearance, and also the lowest alcohol percentage at around 6.5%. I thought this one had the most notable hop aroma of the four, as well as a nice floral/balanced quality. It reminded me a little bit of Meadowlark, which is on of my favorites. It also had some nice bitterness and a touch of "bite" that I like. I surprised myself by buying a four-pack at a price that I don't normally go for. Looking forward to my next full serving!

The others didn't really do much for me (I liked Boom Sauce, but wouldn't pay top dollar for it), but I can see how different people would find different elements of each to enjoy. On the whole, I think the beer is better than people on this site seem to be giving it credit for.

Just found Steal this can pop up and I picked up one to give it a try. I did buy one of the initial batches of Boom Sauce and like most found it too malty and sweet for my palette. I will try each one and I read that they are going to try refine Boom Sauce. I see it everywhere and its starting to linger on the shelves.

The reviews on here and dialogue are so vastly different then what people post on the facebook page. FB page being the least accurate IMO. People always suck up there. It's kinda funny to contrast and compare.

Agreed. It's embarrassing reading those FB posts.

Picked up a four pack of cans this evening (dated 9/24). Less sweetness/maltiness/caramel/booze, and far more drinkable. Softer palate with some mild, balanced tropical notes on the nose and taste. Not a juice bomb by any means, but I prefer this to NS Santilli (local, same price point and format - actually paid $13 for this compared to $14 of Santilli at NS, not that it's much of difference).

I found Steal This Can less palatable than Boom Sauce, and I didn't much care for Boom Sauce.

Grabbed a single of the new batch tonite. Unlike everything else I've had from them so far this one actually had a decent nose, and wasn't overly malty. However, the taste had a strange sort of sharp, soapy finish to it that i didn't care for. I know different hops can hit certain palates in an odd way, but I've never had that reaction to a hoppy beer before.

Still waiting to have something from them I'll be happy to spend $3.50 a can on.

Decent beer and better than Boom Sauce. I wouldn't grab them in the future unless they get better. The after taste on Lord Hobo's beers are horrible.

I saw an advertisement for Lord Hobo Brewing on one of the electronic billboards near Woburn on my drive to work this morning. First time I have seen a local brewry advertise on a billboard.

Isn't one of the co-owners involved with car dealerships? Would make sense if he's involved in marketing. While odd, a billboard is probably a better approach than telling your consumers to open their own brewery if they don't like your beer.

Just picked up at four pack at $13. Almost five bucks cheaper than boom sauce and, happy to say, much improved from the version of stc I had in early September at lh bar. Nice bite, dry, and it cut a lot of the caramel I found overpowering in all of their earlier version.

A promising sign. Still don't know if it will be a frequent purchase and I'm still steering clear of boom sauce until it comes down in price. But stc is trending in the right direction considering it has only been a month.

Wow this is really good! I like it better than Boom Sauce. Plus it was only $12.99 a 12 pack. Pretty similar to Be Hoppy.
