So does that mean (hypothetically) that if they sell 30 cases on Thursday, they are pulling the remaining 20 cases off the sales floor and not selling it to people on their way to Madison on Friday?

Having called the brewery directly, I was told that they are holding back product so that those working at the Great Taste have a chance to pick it up on Saturday and Sunday. They are not pulling back product if it doesn't sell out on Thursday, they are merely withholding inventory to allow more people to pick some up.

I think it's reasonable to assume that any R&D left over from Thursday's release would be available on Friday.

I'm not sure how reasonable it is to assume that there will be any R&D left at the end of the day on Thursday.

ISO as well. If anyone dislikes this style or has extras let me know as I really would like to try this one but I have to work all weekend and I live 2 hours from the brewery in Kenosha so no way to make it after work either.

FOLLOW-UP: Spoke with the New Glarus Brewmaster and they are now dividing up the 168 cases produced across the four-day period from Thursday to Sunday. They plan on releasing an "even amount" each day to allow for those driving up to the Great Taste to potentially get some on Friday as well. 2 bottle limit per person, as previously announced. They will be releasing a Facebook update shortly.

Can you give them a call back? I have another question (that I saw on the other site). Is this the same beer as the Unplugged Sour Brown Ale from 2005?

Where's the best place to eat in new glarus? Any other must see/do things while in town?

Thinking about going but it's 2 hours from where I live. If I could make a day out of the trip it would be worth it. Thanks for any help!

Any word on size of bottles? Is that 12 or 24 to a case?

Does anyone know if they keep track of who gets bottles? I want to go multiple days.

Should be 500ml bottles, 12 to a case if the past R&D beers are any indication.

Two bottles not enough for you?

I wanna pick some up for trading partners who aren't attending.

It's a noble gesture for sure, but by doing so, you'd be taking the beer away from people who were actually able to get to the brewery. Are your trading partners more deserving than the people that make the trip to NG?

Don't even live in Madison anymore, and may actually land bottles due to the timing (coming in for the fest), but still dissapointed that a brewery so focused on WI distribution would release something like this on a weekend where a huge percentage of the release is guaranteed to get eaten up by people outside of the distribution area. I just don't understand how this makes sense.

I don't have any problem with sharing the NG goodies with anyone who is willing to make a trip to the brewery to get it for themselves. I suspect the situation wouldn't be too much different if it wasn't GTMW. Plenty of people from Chicago and other nearby states would make the drive in methinks.

WOW, $8 / bottle for something that they've had to inventory for 2 years, talk about a reasonable price! Kudos NG, Kudos!!! Wish I could make it and grab one myself, but I'm at a bachelor which as the best man kinda can't dip out hahaha . . . maybe I can talk him into a change of plans thou

So you are coming in from out of town and upset that New Glarus is hooking up out of towners? Do I have that right?

This is a very fair release in my opinion. Nice job New Glarus!

Yeah - sure. I live in Madison for a number of years and have great brand loyalty to NG. If I have time to make it up to the brewery on Sunday, sweet. I'm just pointing out that the timing of the release doesn't seem to fit with their very vocal desire to only serve the Wisconsin marketplace. It's especially puzzling after the way the BB Kriek release went, and how frustated many Wisconsin-ites were.

I wonder if this is the same recipe as a few years ago. That beer was delicious.
