I've debated eliminating Lompoc since they never seem to light up the scoreboard with anything. But I'll admit to having a soft spot for sitting on the front porch at Hedge House with a pint of C Note. And I think SideBar can be a worthwhile stop, especially with its proximity to HUB BikeBar and Tin Bucket. Oaks Bottom... not so much.

I thought Occidental was a worthy add for a couple reasons. First, they're doing very solid German-style lagers in a town where those beers tend to be somewhat underappreciated. Second, they're out in far-flung St. John's, which is an area I'd guess most tourists don't visit, but maybe should--if for nothing else than to see the bridge.

As for Ecliptic, my mileage definitely varies. I've had a bunch of their beers, and I haven't had one that I'd recommend to anyone. And although that's just personal preference, I also just don't see much chatter about what they're doing on these boards or elsewhere, and therefore haven't had the inclination to add them. But definitely talk them up in this or the next thread if you feel differently!

I agree wholeheartedly with Occidental and St Johns, also neglected in the area is the fine vegan restaurant proper eats, and the excellent, authentic, hole in the wall, Mexican restaurant in the back of a store/bakery, Taqueria y Panaderia Santa Cruz.

I'll 2nd the 28th & Division food carts as a good place to get cheap eats and good beer. The beer cart has about 15 taps, and there is a great selection of good cheap eats.

Another choice is Good Neighbor Pizza, in the same building as the Breakside Brewery. They've got great Calzones, and always have a nice selection of beers on tap. If you want more, just head over to Breakside.

If you are feeling really cheap, American Dream Pizza charges $6.50 for a Pint & a very large slice after 8pm.

Here is a link to an interactive map and address list of the 75 breweries within 8 miles of the convention center (you might have to zoom out to sse all), which might help you decide were to stay:

Near the convention center or in NW Portland, might be your best choice. Both areas are well serviced by street car.
