Well, we've all been talking about what annoys, pesters or peeves us about craft beer. How about a positive spin. I LOVE craft beer and got into it after being a wine collector for a number of years. What I like best about craft beer, besides all the awesome beer, is the community that has built up around it. Sure, as with anything, there will be those who are just bad apples or bring an experience down but I truly love talking to people about beer. I always find myself learning something new everyday and sharing experiences, tastes etc... with other beer aficionados. Trading can be fun, going on the hunt for a hard to get or special release beer is an adventure unto itself.

What do you like best about all this craziness we have come to enjoy?

I like the people as well my self. Met some new friends and found some old ones I lost track of at random festivals and bottle shops. Also been fun to experience the changes and styles and variations on something that, as a kid and even after turning 21, didn't get what the deal was for beer in the red and white cans with frogs for spoke....animals. It gave me an avenue to express my creativity through homebrew and finding breweries and beer that I admired too.

    Hooray!

    • Choices choices CHOICES!!! There is so much good beer out there in all these different ways and styles and formats and new breweries. I can't keep up!
    • It's cheaper than good/great wine or whisk(e)y!
    • Community involvement and food culture. It has spawned off people going to breweries as meeting places, hang outs, food involvement in restaurants. It's no longer just something that you just pick a 6er of and forget about it
    • There's too much good beer out there it's impossible to drink it all, but doesn't stop ya from trying
    • Variety!
    • Wicked new label art, cool glasses, and great looking pics and breweriana

Aside from the redundancy of Choices choices CHOICES and Variety!, this is along the same lines as I would have written. Thanx for saving me the trouble.

I would agree with what's been posted, the people and variety. I also like how great beer can be very affordable.

I like traveling around the country and seeing how all of this is truly taking root. The big guys can buy all of the "craft" breweries that they want to, but the real action is on Main Street, Elm Street, down alleys, everywhere someone has a dream to make damned good beer!

Absolutely!!! Some of those little alleyway brewpubs can be diamonds lost in the chaff.

Was literally just going to start the same post. Great minds!

What I like most is the expansive ocean of knowledge to explore. I call myself a beer 'geek' for a reason. Beer makes me feel the way fantasy RPG games make me feel, small and insignificant, but with a huge potential to grow, and to explore, and to meet interesting people. There are whales to slay! Maidens to seduce! Flagons of Ale to be crashed together in a raucous song in celebration of life! God I'm a nerd!

I like the people too! =) Plus I like writing reviews and doing the actual tasting. I like pairing beer with food. I like taking the photos. I love the idea that the craft beer community sets a very civil pace in it's own unique and very hippie way. I mean strangers sharing beer with each other because they can and traveling to meet and greet one another.

This is a huge reason I like the Craft Beer community. Wine culture however....... quite the opposite

These two, absolutely. I am involved with a company that produces morale patches so I often post these 'beer and a patch' pics to my instagram ( @gdsigns ) people from both the patch collecting hobby and the craft beer culture really seem to like them. And I always tag them with #UpForWhatever so @TheBudLightGuy always likes them too. Not sure what he's trying to prove.

i love the variety i never get bored and as someone who cant sit still for more than three seconds that's great for me. I get bored so easy. It is the only thing able to hold my attention but even as i drink i need to do such as horseshoes, i pace, etc. That's why i love variety. Keeps me busy with all the styles and info

I also like pairing food and the brewing process. So interesting that down to an extra hop addition into the last minute of the boil can change everything although very small, can have an impact and as someone who also loves the taste of beer, i have like-minds with me to say "hey....its not alcoholism assholes, it makes my taste buds happy" because my friends dont get it and think im the token drunk

What a great follow up to the "What we don't like about craft beer" thread.

What I like most is continued rise in the quality American beer, the diversity of styles and variations within styles available to us, and the innovation of American Brewers who continue to push boundaries in all directions.

These are good times for American Beer drinkers.

That there are places like this that exist simply because there are those of us that enjoy craft beer enough to support it.
