The end of the night is near, and I'm reddy. A lighter night cap :

    And a review :

    3.66/5 rDev +4.6%
    look: 4.75 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.5

    Served in Nonic Pint Glass.

Appearance : The body on this beer is a thing of beauty; it has iced tea hues mixed with tomato juice and blended dark fruit juices. It looks like a healthy concoction. 90% opaque. The head is very large, popcorn colored, and leaves tons of webby lace as it recedes from 3 fingers to 1. A stunning picture.

Smell : Faint, but what I can nose reminds me of my girlfriend's hair (and she's a redhead). Clean, fruity aromas (blueberry, strawberry, passion fruit), with some lightly baked grain malts and open faced cherry tomato. A faint permeation of wetness can also be nosed.

Taste : A weak introduction of yeasty malts gives way to a quick bite of sharp hop. This is followed by calm waves of crushed Smarties, honey, tomato, and strawberry. I like the finish the best, but ultimately the whole thing doesn't really tie together very well. It's three separate entities, and none of them really compliment each other.

Feel : Creamy and dense, with a slight edgy char and a faint pasty dryness on the finish.

Overall : I like the idea here and it's obvious they were going for something slightly different. Ultimately it doesn't tie together and there's some off-notes and bizarre flavors going on. I probably wouldn't buy this again.

Whatever, I guess. I like it regardless if it's more of a Witbier or a American Pale Wheat Ale. It's not too shabby, I like it better than its direct competition, Shock Top Belgian White (though you'll see me drinking those too once in awhile).

Another tasty DIPA recommended by my NZ mate Murray - "Enlightenment Boom!" from Renaissance Brewing Co., Malborough, NZ:
