Morning BA. I was not able to fall asleep last night, so I did all the laundry and a couple hours of bike training while watching psych on Netflix. Already finished 3 seasons in like a month and a half.

One of my top favorite gose of the year. Flavors of big tart cherry, lemon, lime, green apple, wheat, cracker, coriander, sea salt, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice fruity/acidic tart finish with balanced cherry and fruity yeast complexity; with balanced salinity and acidity in the mouthfeel as well. Very flavorful for the ABV. I am definitely going to stock up more heavily next year, it all seemed to disappear off the shelf quickly this year.


My go to Oktoberfest along with the new Sierra Nevada, just found out I am out of that right now. Robust flavors of toasted biscuit, honey, light caramel, and nutty malts; with light-moderate herbal/spicy hop flavor and balanced bitterness; with a nice medium-full bodied creamy/bready mouthfeel. Super clean and spot on every time.


Last 2013 Devil Dancer I have. Flavors of grapefruit, orange peel, citrus rind, and pine resin; with balanced caramel, toffee, and toasted bready malts. Still plenty of resinous bitterness; with a moderately sticky and slick mouthfeel. No cloying flavors. This is really nice overall, but I think I’ll stick to only having it fresh up to around 1 year of age from now on. I loved the 2014 I drank earlier this year. This is shifting towards straight bitter hop quality.


This is by far my favorite of the Vertical Epic I’ve had (08-12), and I was lucky enough to stumble upon this and another 12.12.12 a few months ago. This is still holding up extremely well. Flavors of big raisin, plum, fig, pear, apple, and clove yeast notes; with caramel, brown sugar, toffee, and toasted bready malt sweetness; all finished off with cinnamon and chile peppers. Balanced cinnamon/chile and peppery yeast spicy finish; with very minimal heat from the peppers after the finish. Really great balance and complexity between the yeast, malt and cinnamon/chile spice flavors. I am surprised to see that the cinnamon lasted this long, still very noticeable. Completely delicious. The main thing I always loved about this is the nice chile pepper flavors with minimal associated heat. All wrapped up in a really great Belgian dark ale. Looking forward to trying the 08 fresh soon since they released it again.

Tell Me Something Good

 

This beer is so good that I am really mad at myself for not having bought more than one can. I will have to wait until next year since it's only released once a year. Oh well. Go Seahawks!

Classic coffee stout - kicks up some great coffee and chocolate aromas, all verified on the tongue - haven't had one in probably a coupla years - a good beer to return to, eh?

In other news, the BA site wasn't loading for me last night...

But I had Brooklyn Brewing's Oktoberfest ale in this 2015 "Shacktoberfest" mug at Shake Shack...

$10 bucks for the glassware and brew - pretty good stuff, just not something I drink often...

In addition to the beer, had their "currywurst dog" - a bavarian brat topped with crispy ale-marinated shallots and curry ketchup; and their "bacon cheddar brat burger" - Angus beef burger topped with bacon, cheddar-stuffed bratwurst, and those crispy, ale-marinated shallots. Oh, and cheese fries... No pics... Use yer imagination. It was fucking awesome.

For a limited time only - get to a Shake Shack, people...

Lotsa great football ahead - no telling where the upsets will come from...
