Here is the label for a brand new beer coming from Founders. The beer is called Azacca IPA, and as you would imagine from the name, uses Azacca hops. This beer will come packaged in 12oz bottles and clock in at 7.0%abv and 70ibu. Not sure yet if this will be a national release, but I sure hope so, as Azacca hopped beers are great!

I hope this makes national distribution. I'd love to do a side-by-side with Hop Ranch

I will be all over this one. I think they brewed this one to 8.4% abv in the not so distant past. I'm sure this 7.0% abv will be just as good. It broke my heart when they moved this one from a Class 1 to Class 2 beer. $10 growlers of 8.4% Azacca IPA was a steal.

Did Hop Ranch use these Hops?

Rather have 7% than 8.4% anyday. Hope this comes to CT.

I believe Hop Ranch does use Azacca, but I personally feel that Hop Ranch gets its character primarily from Mosaic. Not sure how well this one will compare.

Mosaic and Azacca. Aside from the obvious IPA vs DIPA difference, I'm interested to see another brewer's take on the hop. I don't think that it's used as frequently as it should be.

Which is why I'd like to get my hands on it, to really see the difference that the single-hopping makes and having its true character shine through

Have loved all the beers I've had that feature Azacca lately so I'm definitely anticipating this to be great.

Rad. I've never heard of this hop, but if this brew resembles hop ranch, then there is a strong possibility I'll dig it. Founder's is amongst my favorite breweries.

I get a somewhat similar flavor profile from Victory Hop Ranch and Two roads Lil heaven...both of them use Azacca hops. Excited to try this

Cannot wait to try this. Hope ND gets kegs and packages.

Had Alaskan Azacca Pale Ale. Was really good. Understanding this is a different style and being Founders is one of my favorite breweries, it sounds amazing.

Azacca is pretty new...only really came out for mass use in 2013 I believe. Super tasty though, plan on using some in my next homebrew.

What do Azacca hopped beers taste like to you?

I haven't been able to pinpoint exactly what they bring to the table because it's usually a blend of hop varietals that happens to include Azacca in the beers I've enjoyed. Recently, though, I had local Asheville brewery Hi-Wire's latest in their Hop Circus series which was an IPA brewed with El Dorado and Azacca and it was amazing. I think there might be some spicy quality to it but El Dorado also has some spicy quality so I'm especially excited for this Founders release since I'll be able to see what this hop varietal is like on its own.
