Went to my local Affiliated Foods supermarket about an hour ago, with the intention of picking up a gallon of milk, a bag of Fritos Corn Chips, a pack of Camel Crush cigs, a gallon of Gaterade.........AND a 6-pack of Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest!!! SN Oktoberfest has really grown on me over the last month or so....I REALLY like it!

So I get the groceries put away and stick a couple of bottles of Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest in the freezer to chill them rather quickly. I pour one of them into my pint glass and settle down in front of the tube to enjoy the game. I take a sip and something just doesn't taste quite right..........it tastes a little bit off......it doesn't taste bad...just OFF. SOOO, I get up and go open the fridge and what do I see staring back at me? A 6-pack (minus one...the one a just poured) of SAM ADAMS Octoberfest! The dam packaging is similar, and I was in a HURRY to get out of the store.......and thirsty! And NO, I had NOT been drinking prior to entering the store. Just one of those things I guess. It's not that bad really, just not as good as Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest. Oh well, life goes on. Just wondering if anybody has ever done anything similar.

I once bought North Coast Brother Thelonius instead of Old Stock. That was weird.

Not sure this is worth a thread. Both good Oktoberfests. Just enjoy it and pay more attention next time

I prefer Sam Adams myself, but both are very respectable.

Yes I have, and it was a SN beer also. I picked up a 12 pack of Summerfest thinking it was the Summer Variety pack. Worked out OK though, it was good. Consider yourself fortunate as variety is the spice of life...

The correct style, but different Brewer. Wrong bottle type. Don't remember a Sierra Nevada longneck.

The bottles and packaging size are a bit different too, but you could have done a lot worse, we've gone through a few 6 packs of each already.

I was doing a quick beer run once, and I was at one of my favorite stores that has a limited but great selection. Every time I go there they always have Weihenstephan Hefeweizen half liters but none of the other ones. So I blindly grabbed a couple and went home. This time it turned out to be Kristallweizen, but that's fine since they are both fantastic. I just usually prefer the unfiltered version.

Done it with singles building a six pack more than once. Never made any horrible errors. But yeah I would bummed too, the SN version is superior to be sure...

I did the same thing a few years ago. I was looking around WFs for something fresh and found a bottle of Stone SSR. I thought to myself that if I didn't find anything else, I'd grab that on the way out of the store.

So, after I did my shopping, I swung back by the beer section and grabbed what I thought was the SSR. Turns out I grabbed Stone's Smoked Porter, which also had blue graphics on the bottle and was probably right next to it on the shelf. I had no clue until I smelled it as I poured. I hate smoked beer.

this is like going to the grocery store and buying the complete wrong thing. FOR EXAMPLE, i eat Special K Protein Plus and my girl bought my regular Special K. i'm easy going so i said i'll eat it but i want Protein Plus.

next time out she bought the wrong thing again!! she said, "i saw Special K and bought it". i broke up with her the next week because i considering reading a "special" and invaluable skill.

if you plan on buying something read the label! i don't know how people can be so oblivious, i've been absolutely wasted and can still figure out minute details.

LEARN HOW TO READ and utilize this skill!! it is somewhat of a big deal.

Hi everyone. I'm Dano first time posting.
I did the same with Ballast Point. I wanted sculpin but grabbed habanero sculpin instead. Big mistake.

I've done that before. When I was a budding beer enthusiast I bought what I thought was bottle of St. Bernardus Wit but when I got home I discovered it was Abt. 12 which I never had before. One of the best mistakes I ever made.
