Back in Denver and looking for the store in Denver proper with the best selection for buying singles. I used to live in North Denver, where I could hit up the Westminster Total Beverage for mixed six packs in an easy 15 to 20 minute drive (when there was no traffic). Now, however, I am on the South side of Denver and looking for a more convenient spot..and not one that would require a highway drive (like Lukas Liquors).

I am familiar with Colorado Liquor Mart and Glendale's King Soopers and their respective singles selection and I just discovered Grapevine the other day and their small (but quality) singles selection. Hoping in my time living outside of Denver something new might have popped up around here that offers a singles selection comparable to the Westminster's Total Beverage. Or, even better, one that allows you to make your own six pack from anything on the shelf.

Molly's is pretty large, though the quality can be iffy.

Ya I'm going to be in Denver for a few days next week and would like some reccomendations on beer stores. Won't have time to hit any breweries or bars but would like to pick some stuff up to bring back home. Is Casey available anywhere in Denver or is it brewery only?

How does it compare to Westminster's Total Beverage selection? Comparable enough that its worth saving the ~5 minute extra travel time?

That said, I am (ideally) trying to find something a little more convenient to me, i.e. DU area. If my research was correct, Molly's is in Wheat Ridge?

    Thanks for the response.

Yes, it's in Wheat Ridge. I'd say it's very similar to Total Bev. Maybe a little better for local singles and worse for out of state offerings.

There are tons of threads about bottle shops in the Mountain Forum.

As for Casey, it occasionally is on shelves, but I don't foresee it being available anywhere in the Denver area next week, maybe the week after.

Tipsy's does an okay to decent job of their build-a-sixer selections if you're over that side of town.

I learned the hard way to do that at any store. I just spent the past year in Kentucky and there was one store in particular with a great singles selection. I bought a mixed six the first time I was there without thinking to notice once I got home that a couple of the beers I got were a year old.

Good to know, but I feel I can find intriguing bombers at any good beer store.

I was there once and was pretty happy with it. But I feel like Tipsy's is an incredibly long drive. I don't know that it is longer than, say, the drive to Westminster's TB but for whatever reason it always feels much longer to me. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'll be in town one night, the 17th, staying at the Hyatt Convention Center.
    Anything worthwhile in the area?

I'm back in town for work again and hit Molly's tonight.
    Damn!!
Was on the clock so only grabbed a few things but we're I more versed in the Colorado brewery scene I could have stayed a lot longer (and spent a lot more!).

I find that while Molly's does have a TON of local brews, but don't do very well to showcase the best we have to offer.

It's getting more and more difficult for stores to carry "everything". Darn Colorado keeps producing more breweries.

Is Total Beverage in Westminster really that great? I went in there and it felt like they didn't have the best beer selection. I am originally from San Diego and the beer selection at massive Bev-Mo style stores seems to be greater, in my opinion.

They have a ton of beer, but I usually only walk out with a couple singles. I personally prefer a smaller, more specialized selection.

Yeah, I just went to The Argonaut for the first time. That place blew my freaking mind. Walked out a poorer man, but at least I got to check a few beers off my list.
