Alright, BAers, we all know the restorative powers of comfort food: that one special dish that can bring you back from the brink after a disastrous day. But what about your go-to comfort beer? What beer helps smooths the wrinkles of the shit parade that can sometimes be life?

For me, I think it’s Guinness. I know exactly what I’m going to get each time and the memories I have associated with it are like getting a big, boozy hug.

Depends on the season a little for me, but 99% of the time it's Founder's Breakfast Stout.

Troegs Perpetual is my go-to IPA, so I think I would categorize that here as well.

Was going to say Guinness. Got me started, so many good memories, & I've drank more of it than probably any other beer (besides Yuengling).

any of my go-tos, or basically anything that I know I like. Trying new things when I need that 'comfort' isn't a sure bet.

And I should specify: Not just one pint of Guinness, but multiple pints. When in need, I'll usually buy the 4-pack cans with the nitro ball and kill the pack in one sitting. That's some comfort right there.

For me, it's become pretty much any great barrel-aged stout. Most recently, Prairie AB Noir. Both bottles I had were so delish and really hit the spot on the two separate occasions I had them.

Guinness & Anthem Uroboros on the lighter-bodied end of the scale, and PAA Bomb!, FBS & COOP TROAIS. Comfort to me always involves a stout with chocolate notes.

    Trois Monts
    Bell's Two Hearted
    Brooklyn Black Chocolate
    La Fin Du Monde

As a lighter beer it'd be Murphy's (or Beamish) for me, not Guinness, but a pint in Dublin, out of the rain, will never be unwelcome.

SNPA would definitely be one. Also a bunch of local beers that I have memories tied to: Union Duckpin, Heavy Seas Loose Cannon, Stillwater Cellar Door, hell, even Natty Boh.

If comfort food can bring you back from a disastrous day, my comfort beer would be 12 - 24 ozs. of anything in the 8 - 10% abv range. If that doesn't cure the bad day blues, I'll go for another 12 oz. And another. Until it's nap time.

I would have replied to this thread with the exact same answer. That said, you should also try Prairie Pirate Noir. Its stout aged in Jamaican rum barrels. Might be tough to track down at this point in the year, but if you can swing a trade it'd be well worth it.

SN Pale Ale or Torpedo. Easy to get and always consistant. I know this may be sacriledge, but Redd's Apple Ale. Either flavor. Like hitting the reset button on your computer. Cleans everything off and gets ready to start again! Cheers!

Read this as 12 x 24 oz servings of something in the 8-10% range. Was like, damn...dude's hardcore.

Any beer is a comfort beer for me. That being said there's just something about a bomber of an imperial stout that I really enjoy.

    12 x 24 oz. = for a bad week.

For me, Pizza Port Swami's IPA - easy to find, always fresh, easy on the wallet, & canned so I don't have to bother with glassware.

I have had it and it's underrated IMO. I thought the rum barrel presence was right on when a lot of rum BA beers can be way too intense. That said, I had Coffee Noir at a bottle share recently and it was pretty underwhelming.
