Something in my pilsener rotation: Bitburger, Konig, Pivo Pils, Urquell, Sierra Nevada Nooner, Real Ale Hans Pils ... and I throw Karbach's Sympathy for the Lager in there, even though it's more of a Vienna lager/pilsener hybrid

And if it's a REALLY bad day that needs some watering down, I open a good Belgian, which for me is generally a dubbel, quad/strong dark (Rochefort 6, 8, 10; Westmalle dubbel; Chimay Red, Blue).

I agree it gets some love but I think it's overshadowed sometimes. For me the price, general freshness plus availability in cans makes it a regular in my fridge. That and of course the flavor

It changes from season to season. I think a good IPA in hot summers do well in terms of calming you down and getting you in the mood for later evening. First thing on my mind after a few hours walking around outside in the sun.

Racer 5 IPA is a favorite here. Sierra Nevada Torpedo is great too. Recently tried a sexy little thing called Citra-Ass Down from Kentucky--definitely worth trying if you're into subtle citrus.

Right now, as we are transitioning into the fall, I want something less aggressive and maybe a little more mild, until eventually I get hit jack-black with stouts and porters in the winter. My recent preference for Pilsners/Lagers for the fall may have been influenced by a recent trip to Berlin (Augustiner is great. Reissdorf is a Kolsch, but it does the trick. Jever is a fav as well as the Zapfler just because the label is so cute!!~)

In the winters as I have mentioned above, I enjoy darker beers. A great stout the Russian Imperial. I actually quite enjoy the caramel-y stuff like Kentucky Bourbon Ale or any other creamier beers poured under a Nitro stout (I am obsessed with these kinda pours). Amber ales are OK, they are a hit or miss for me.

Spring is an interesting one because I never thought I would get into Weiss biers. In wheat beers, I typically look for good balances in banana & cloves. Weihenstephaner Vitus is a classic. But Namaste from Dogfish is a local favorite. I think that's about it in terms of favorite wheat beers--have yet to explore more when the next spring rolls around (feel free to provide a few recommendations! )

I also enjoy a a Belgian white beer from time to time, here and there.

One month 'til Shugga comfort, my friend. I think it hit the shelves in early November last year.

Stouts ... breakfast stouts, coffee stouts, imperial stouts, chocolate stouts, chocolate milk stouts, pumpkin stouts, chocolate pumpkin ... (yes, you can bourbon barrel all of 'em too.) ... I could go on, but you get the idea. There is something sippably comforting about 'em any time of (but especially this time of) year

A local Stout from Picaroons called Timber Hog! A hearty beer with a thick body. Nothing like it, especially in the colder months.

I'm in the dark lager camp, myself- doppelbocks are easier to find these days, although I would prefer straight bocks. Munich dunkels are great, too because like the op I want to drink quite a few of my comfort beers in a 'session' (unfortunately they are also a rare sight lately).

Stone IPA. It's that old girlfriend I can never say no to. Every time I look at her, the memories come flooding back. OK, this is a bit too real for me. You get the point.
