It's been a long time since I've been in the mood for anything more than 8.5% abv, let alone anything bourbon related, but yesterday at work I caught a whiff of bourbon off a passing customer and was immediately struck by the most powerful craving for bourbon barrel aged beer. It's still got me! I know I can pick up a few old bottles of BBA Siberian Night tomorrow (which I will), but what else is out there now that I can pick up? Bonus points for Ohio-specific answers, and extra bonus points for those of you living in Columbus that can point me toward bottles here in the capital!

Look into Jackie O's. I dont know what distro or regular availbility looks like but that would be my suggestion.

New Holland Dragon's Milk Stout is the only one I can come up with offhand.

Hoppin Frog BA BORIS and BA DORIS always a good bet.

I echo Dragon's Milk above - great off the shelf BBA stout.

Jackie O's BA DA or BA Oil if you happen to be in the bottle shop in the 3 hours before they sell out once every few months...

I always see a BBA beer from Anderson Valley on the shelf at my beer store, but I've never look closely at it to see if it is a stout or whatever.

Outside of Thirsty Dog, and the already mentioned Dragons Milk and Jackie O's and Hoppin Frog beers, I usually come across Big Bad Baptist, and Heavy Seas Siren Noire often.

Big Bad Baptist just dropped a new batch last week.

Man, I love those beers - wish they were around Cincy more readily. Especially BBB as I'm a sucker for coffee.

Seems to be popping up still in some places so.... I'll throw out Avery's Uncle Jacob's Stout or Tweak as a way to blow the ABV and Bourbon Barrel ticks WAY up!

That aside, some other favorites that may be more readily available are Epic's Big Bad Baptist, Port Brewing Older Viscosity, (and, if they're still floating around as they are here) Angel's Share or Boulevard's Bourbon Barrel Quad.

Unfortunately we won't be seeing any Avery big BBA stouts in Ohio as we have an asinine 12% ABV cap.

Another option is Black Butte XXVII which just dropped. Still places around here with XXVI on the shelves too.

I highly recommend any of the Heavy Seas barrel aged bombers. They have all been very good

Jackie O's does make some incredible BBA dark beers, but not usually with any regular distro availability. Wood Burner, for instance, is better than KBS, but just as hard to come by.

Hmm, BA BORIS/DORIS isn't a bad idea... and I might be able to snag a bottle of BA Dark Apparition or Oil of Aphrodite...

Big Bad Baptist is one of my favorite beers of all time, yet I haven't seen it in over a year. Hell, maybe more than two years! Wes, have you seen any in Ohio/Columbus any time recently? If so, where?

You should be able to find 4-packs of Weyerbacher Heresy now with relative ease.

Bourbon Barrel-Aged Arrogant Bastard Ale can be had. I tasted this last nite, but they wanted too much for it on tap. I saw this at the local grocery for like 12.99 a six pack, so it is a good deal. Not too bourbon forward

Both Thirsty Dog BB Siberian and BB Wulver are around the Akron area.

Doesn't this have some infection issues, or was I just unlucky?

So much for the Avery goodness....thanks OH!

On the other hand, those Deschutes options are all legit!

If the Avery craving gets to be too much to handle...let me know as I have plenty of UJ's and Tweak to pimp out!

I have never had any 'infection' issues with Heresy and I drink it every year. When did you try it last? I would certainly advise you give it another go. I never heard any confirmation/press from the brewery that any infection took place. Though a quick search revealed a thread from 2 years ago on here with someone having a tart bottle. Hmm. Bad batch? Poor storage conditions? Or perhaps some small portion of bottles got something undesirable inside back then.

    Wulver is great.

I've actually seen some of the barrel aged Jackie O's make it to Vintage Estates in Boardman decent regularity. Lizardville had a grip of them when I was there a few months back too.
