Glad I woke up with a literal plague and sat this out. I'll let someone who is actually there chime in.

Haven't seen any DL FT posts yet. No pre trades set up?

I've had the plague for 2 days now so I skipped my trip up there. However I know two people who were planning on stopping by and got stuck in traffic for hours. Left northern VA at 1:30 and GPS says they will be there at 8:30. I guess I should tell them not to?

    Edit-Just saw Preluderl's post. Sucks

In hindsight for them, 4 bottles per may have been a little high.

With only 300 bottles that's on 75 people.

When getting there, there was no indication at all of how they would be handling the bottle release and it was so packed that you couldn't get anywhere near the bar to ask someone. So I stood in line at the bar, finally got a drink and hung out for a bit. After maybe 5-10 minutes, I started asking around and found out that you had to get a ticket from the bar, pay for your bottles and then they would call your ticket after 7pm to get your allotment. So I of course got back in line, waited again and by the time I got back to the bar, they were gone.

In hindsight, they were probably already sold out the first time I got to the bar, but fliers or something around to explain how they were doing it would have been immensely helpful. I feared it was going to be a mess and unfortunately that was pretty confirmed. Even with the biergarten, they still didn't have close to enough space to accommodate the crowd they drew.

Oh well, you win some and you lose some.

Did anyone actually try the beer? Was it on tap?

It was but I didn't get one. Was trying to get home in time to put the little dude to sleep so I wasn't imbibing.

The post I saw said that they were handing out tickets starting at 5 and then I guess you could grab your bottles starting at 7, when the tapping was going to be. I took a shot since I live 15 minutes away and got there ~6:45 and I heard the bartender say there were no more bottles, although the beer was flowing and you could get a pour. When I saw a guy get a small plastic cup pour of it for $7.50, I passed and went to Roundabout for a growler of Jacked Stout and had a beer.

Not hating on DL, I guess they ran out of glassware, but it didn't look like much in the plastic cup, so I moved on. If it wasn't so crowded I would have at least stayed for a Cru.

Yeah I'm not hating on them either. They were doing their best but I think it takes several of those things to really do it right (some breweries have done tons and still do a shitty job) so it's understandable.

And yeah, they ran out of glasses so they were doing pours into some pretty small plastic cups. I don't know how many ounces they held, but it couldn't have been more than 10.

Sounds like Clint Hurdle managed that DL release. Glad I opted for Fat Head's and BG.

You probably saw my plastic cup 24 degree pour and then saw me at roundabout shortly after. Not sad that I didn't get bottles. Think tart of darkness that is less sour, less body and mild finish. Not mad, jacked up and hyer pa were delicious as well as the heaven hill BA stout at roundabout with minimal crowd and 5$ pours. You yinzers are crazy when the word sour is dropped.
