Founders could do nothing but hop water out of the Grand River and people (myself included) would line up to get a bottle.

Anything these guys put in a barrel is good. Boiler Maker proves this point (Solid Gold in barrels).

To further build the Hype when CBS releases? I mean its like Nike - they have access to all this leather and they dont produce more Jordans? Its to keep it exclusive.

CBS is not the best beer they make, nor is it the best beer they make that they put in a maple barrel. Granted, I wish this was Panther Cub, but I'm not complaining.

Sounds awesome, I love living so close to founders. I can't wait to try it on tap and grab a couple bottles.

Founders Imperial Stout is 10.5% and 75 IBU's (IPA territory, not uncommon for an imperial stout)....add some maple syrup/bourbon...see where this is going...

I'm incredibly excited to try this. I trust Founders knows what they're doing (after all, it's been developed "under a shroud of secrecy for years") - and there's a reason they chose to age a black IPA as opposed to another stout, porter etc.

I just hope it will be as easy to get as their last few (non BA) releases.

At least no other beers are being released late November so we'll all have a ton of money to spend on this.

What it probably is, and this is my best guess, is that they are re-using old CBS barrels. You will not get as much character out of a second or third use barrel so it is common practice to do a different beer requiring less barrel character.

    Just my 2 cents.
