Last beer of the night, was more like an extremely sweet wine, not a beer in my mind, very disappointing.

    Nice discussion. Learned something. Thanks.

My favorite case store guy is working on getting me a case of this year's Victory Harvest Ale (he sells a lot of Victory, so...). I'll be sure and PM you when I hear its available.

Gotta love Al - first time I saw him his dad was still with the band - but Al and his crew pretty much open and appear multiple times at Wurstfest in New Braunfels annually. This will be the first year in several I won't be there for the biting of the sausage. Some year I fully expect him to pull a Hendrix and set fire to his accordion!

Tasted like old spoiled wine, which I found extremely weird and caught me by total surprise.

Wow! Sorry to hear about your wife - that can really put a damper on the vacation. Glad to hear she's better - enjoy the land down under.

Well, I have some stories for you!

I was wearing a T-shirt that my sister bought for me at last year's Wurstfest and Alex saw me wearing it and before the first set he yelled out (and pointed at me): Nice Wurstfest shirt!!

I have attended the Wursfest every year for the last 6+ years (I have family there) and my wife and I will be going again this year. Flying down the day the Wurstfest opens (11/6) and returning the next Wednesday (11/11). I am not sure which day(s) we will be going to Wurstfest. I can walk there from my sister's house.

    Cheers!

Good evening NBS, many thanks to @utopiajane for this weeks focus.
The weather, color, traffic, are in full swing in WMASS, we enjoyed some
live music at Mass Moca last night, Dr. Dog was wonderful. Oktoberfest was pouring
    and much fun was had.
Today a trip to Ashfield for the finest of Fall Fests. Home enjoying Mayflower Brewing Co,
Standish Imperial Stout, the body is full but not fat, surprisingly rich in texture and a bit sweet.
    All in all delightful.

    Standish

    Mayflower Brewing Company
American Double / Imperial Stout / 9.00% ABV

    4.04/5 rDev -2.9% | Avg: 4.16
    look: 4 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4

Poured from a bottle dated September 2015 into a modified tulip glass.
A - No visible light passes through, deepest dark, boundary layer supports, a creamy tan 1" cap.
S - Medium roast malts, light cocoa, dark cherry, and broad leaf tobacco, drying.
T - Cocoa, toffee, and wonderful dark fruit notes set this up, a thread of medium roast malts runs
    through the experience.
F - A round feel, oats maybe, slightly thin in body, a bit sweet to start, ending with a dazzling long linger. Like tomorrow long, of medium malts and aged dark fruit.
O - A wonderful offering, from Mayflower, this series has only produced gems.
    Cheers all

Cool! My brother lives in New Braunfels out on Lewis Ranch so we have to drive in for Wurstfest. We usually try to hit opening night and one Sunday. Did you get an opportunity to check out the local craft beer tent last year?

Why was it good Mr. Crowley? Please give us a brief (or not) analysis.

Can you tell us a bit more about what you liked and why? I'm expecting my wife to want to make another trip back to MI before too much longer and I want to have a shopping list already made up.

If you made the lasagna, hats off. I look at the pic and I taste it! Beer or no beer, that is the shit!

Absolutely beautiful fall weather for SE Michigan. My family finally moved into our new house this weekend. Our dogs and boys love our new bigger backyard and all they did was play this afternoon. It was a great welcome to the beginning of our lives here.

Of course the very first thing I did was organize my beer fridges. Still waiting to unpack my cellar but the kids needed beds I guess.

    On to the beer!

My NBS entry is Devil's Lettuce by Short's Brewing Company. Short's is beginning to be my go to for new to me beers. It seems like every month or so they release something different. "No lettuce was used in the making of this beer". Hope so.

Pour is bright golden with a fluffy white head. Smells like grapefruit rind, black pepper and white wine-like.
Taste is a lot of grapefruit, lemon, marijuana, and onions. It's very bitter but enjoyable.

Clean finish and drinkable. This was really well done. My first wet hopped IPLager. Wish more places did something like this.

Yup, there was some good beer there. I was hoping to score some (512) Pecan Porter but they kicked the keg already before I got there.

    Cheers!
