if you are on it (following stores via social media or in contact with store) its not too bad. most stores sell out within hours or a day, depending on people knowing they have it.

How does camping out work, can you throw up a tent in line?

Typically when you get there, you "claim" your spot in your grass with your tent kind of laid out. Then, I don't think the tents can come up until a certain time, and they also have to come down by a certain time.

Correct. You can lay out the tents but they can't be up until 6 I think. Something to do with the local businesses. Hoping to be there again Friday night volunteering keeping you drunkards in line.

Seems like the info is a little light. Is Surly usually this quiet before darkness day? Bottle allotment, Cost, BA/Non-BA? That type of info. Or the info on lining up, camping, line jumpers being executed on site?

Does the line start right at the gate to their property?

They usually post inside of ten days before the event. Whatever happened last year, or years prior, is not guaranteed to happen this year.

Line starts at their gate. Assuming it's the same as last year, you won't be allowed near by until after 3:30.

For those who don't have to be the first of the first, it might be worth waiting until around 5:00 PM. There was a massive traffic jam/back-up trying to get to the brewery last year right away; it took me about 30 minutes to inch across the bridge & into the park. But an hour or so after they allowed people into the industrial park there was no car-line at all.

actually another plus for hitting 5PM is that a couple of the lots don't open until 5 since the businesses don't allow any DDay parkers until then.

Question about the campers and line.
So l come from Chicago and the last 2 years we drove out late and got there like 4 or 5 am or something to get in line, can't exactly remember. 2 years ago we were fine getting wrist bands, and last year it seemed like we were close to not getting them. This year we plan on getting there earlier and kind of wondering what time does the initial rush and line more or less finish forming that it kind of dies off until people start showing up more sparse then a big rush etc and joining the line but not thowing up tents etc.
Wanting to get an idea of what time would be best to show up. We are thinking of hitting up something Friday night, quick nap at a hotel, then head to line. Should we want to head there at 3am, midnight, earlier. Looking to get an idea of what people see as far as the line formation throughout the night.
    Thanks.

Go back & read the thread. The cut-off time changes every year & last year was an aberration based on the line-cutting. The answer is: nobody knows & people's guesses are going to vary wildly.

There is a mad rush for those of us getting there right away on Friday afternoon and then people trickle in all night long. As Maximum mentioned, there is no way of knowing especially with the line condensing allowing people to cut in - most likely the only reason why you were close to not getting a wristband last year.

I personally believe shoot for as early as you can for one reason alone... All of us in line are fun as hell! I love DDay eve. So many amazing beers and people. Looking forward to hanging out with you all again!

Going to be in town the 22nd and 23rd for work. Should I extend it to the 24th to go to this?

Not sure I quite understand how this release goes down. People camping out for days? Wristbands? Is this event free (other than food and beer, of course)?

    Can someone please explain...

Free other than beer/food. Many camp out overnight, some just go early the morning of (though becoming risky).

You'll get a wristband for your purchase group (ie. 10- 11, 11-12, 12-1, etc...) for when you can purchase bottles. Otherwise once gates open, you go in, drink some beers, eat some food truck food, and be annoyed by metal. Or rock out to metal, whichever you prefer.

BTW... Bottle shares are great the night before, so I suggest a tent, and some good bottles to share.
