Had ***** Wagon tonight at Saucer in SL. Fantastic brew. Hope to get a try of EZ-7 batch 2 and see if it is more balanced like others have posted it is on this thread.

It was great. Good brews, good people and good metal. There were complaints about VDoP being too bitter. Was freakin creamy, vanilla chocolate milk bitter deliciousness if you ask me. Stone IRS 09 was great, mosaic dry hopped Sculpin cask was a treat. Cortado blew within the first hour but oh well!

beer was great. prices were a ripoff. you had to buy beer tickets at $5 and all of the higher alcohol beers were 2 tickets. and the pours were like 10oz. not outrageous, but when you pay $25 to get in, i was a little put off by it.

This was my only gripe. Enjoy By was a $6 pint at Petrol, but the equivalent of a $10 half pint at this event. Charging that for 120 min, Parabola, or the '09 IRS, I can understand, but lumping Enjoy By in there felt like robbery. I really hope that was just an honest mistake by the guys pouring.

A buddy of mine beat the system by buying vulgar by the crowler and just pouring from that. $20 for 32 ounce crowler vs $10 for a half pint. Pretty damn smart on Saturday... probably regretted it on Sunday.

All in all, I had a great time. Drank some great beer and saw a lot of faces I hadn't seen in a while. As with any big event, there are going to be some issues, but nothing really took away from the overall event for me.

And that Sculpin cask was delicious.

ok I have to admit I am impressed by what they have pumped out so far. I had VDoP tonite and was a very happy camper. I used to think they couldn't pop out anything better than Cortado, but was proven wrong. Nice job

I enjoyed the pour of Vulgar I had on Tuesday more than at the Brash party; the roastiness was dialed back a bit to let the vanilla shine through. The alcohol was sneakier too; I wonder if Hammer Smashed Face will become the most crushable BBA Texas stout.

Vulgar was decent. expected more chewiness, not bland bitterness. still tasty though.

Just to follow up on this, I went to the brewery last night and confirmed that the Enjoy By pricing was a mistake. Just a result of using volunteers and having to price things out with drink tickets. That one got priced incorrectly.

I had the second batch of EZ-7. It was good. Not amazing. If the first batch was bittererer I don't think I'd like it as much, but you never know. I can't go back in time to try it.....yet.

Had Brash Abide at Whole Foods on Bellaire yesterday. Pretty good stuff. A solid stout.

A friend sent me a growler, and I thought it was outstanding.

Until I drank the whole thing myself. Not a great idea.

I had to do the same thing with a crowler of the Vulgar because of a bad-crowler-seal-scare. I fell asleep on the couch with the last pour in my hands. But dammit was it tasty.

Pffft lame. I'm talking about a 64oz growler of doom. I could have patched punctured tires with what that beer became the next morning.

Seriously, after my second 10oz pour I looked up the abv. Then I got a bit worried.

Had Abide at Petrol.. good lord.. Solid stout with a very thick mouthfeel and tons of coffee flavor. Very enjoyable/east to drink even though its high ABV
