Bourbon County thread (NJ PA NY)

Donco, it can be found in cases in Philly, but they basically disappear within a few moments of the distributors opening and only a few distributors get them (and those that do only put out a few of the regular and perhaps barleywine - definitely no coffee or other variants from my experience). That has been the situation for the past few years at least. Perhaps there will be more cases if it's cases of 12 vs 24 with the new bigger bottle format?

 

Camping out in the woods with beer = normal.
Camping out in a parking lot to buy beer = not normal.
Just my opinion.

 

Thanks! I chased it last Black Friday and got 2 stinkin' bottles. Not going to do that again.

Anyone have any clue as to how to go about finding where this stuff will be released? I'm located in Central NJ with no major liquor stores near. What are my odds of actually finding some and getting a bottle or two?

 

I can't believe we are lamenting people spending an overnight on Thanksgiving to try to get a rare beer when half the country has been spending this same night at Wal-Mart/Target for the past decade+. I'm not advocating doing either of these things, but we should all be past the point of surprised. Tis a renowned night of commercialism and barely a holiday anymore.

Thanks! I look at their website/facebook/beermenu everyday. Been a bit slow with updates lately. Was waiting to see the Singlecuts (Bon Bon and Billy Full Stack) listed, but they never did. I just stopped by around the time they have gotten them in the past and they had them. Their list for growler fills is usually spot on.

I'd be surprised if places aren't open on Wednesday evening/night this year. I swear places were open last year on Thanksgiving day around early afternoon and overnight. I've never been out shopping on a Friday, but may visit a beer store or two to grab some of this.

 

It's true Cable had cases 2 years ago, but last year if you wanted more than a 4 pack of regular and 1 bcbcs or barleywine you HAD to buy Sophie and Madame Rose bottles too. Their distributor made them take a ton of other GI beers too get BCBS. So I'm not sure if things will be different this year

I think they made me pick up a 6 pack of the IPA with the Case, which wasn't that crazy, I understand why they do it.

I'll be in NYC from Texas on Black Friday, what sort of line can I expect at Top Hops? Like 10th in line at 7 am? Or 10th in line at 5 am. Also, will I freeze my southern balls off at that time of year?

 

If I remember correctly there were more than 200 people on line by 7am.

 

I got to Top Hops around 7AM last year and I was about 150-170 in line.

 

Must be nice to not have to work.

 

I spoke with the main guy last week about the updates, and he said that they won't put something the website if there isn't very much in stock. Specifically I was there for the Jai Alai, and he mentioned that when they only get two cases or so it won't be listed, but this time there were 5 so, so it was. Anyway, it doesn't look like they have stopped using the site, it's just that things may have been 'dry' lately.
