Had this last night at Philadelphia's Monk's Cafe. It was too dark to take a photo so here's a post-imbibeament photo (I took the empty bottle for that reason alone). I've now had a beer from all the Belgian Trappist establishments except Westvleteren (which I suspect will be quite hard to get a hold of).

I wish that i could live the rest of my life with my nose in this beer. Went to HF yesterday with a good friend and secured my right to CD 13... it was like a funky lemon lime heaven with appricot clouds. Drank some Fantome at ProPig, hit up Saison Dupont dry hop 2015 at Three Penny and ate the greatest blue cheese on the planet. Success.

Cinnamon and vanilla bean goodness. Nice beer, maybe a bit too much cinnamon. Cheers!

Inspired by the Founders love in the thread, I grabbed my late model KBS glass to give it a rinse and the damn thing broke in my hand. Luckily no injury was incurred! I've had a love-hate relationship with that glass because of it's paper thin material and scratch prone paint. I'll take the despised 'banded' glass any day. I think I have another thin one stashed somewhere, but I'm in no hurry to find it.

Time to get out and mow some leaves as soon as they dry. Thankfully just one more day until the weekend!

Lemon-pepper herbaceous nose. Thin mint body with a slight synthetic rubber & the best mouthfeel I've encountered. Imperfectly gorgeous.

Good morning/afternoon BA'ers! It's a beautiful sunny day here in the Pacific NW!

Good morning, everybody! This is my first Southern Tier bier.

Appearance : This beer pours a dark espresso bean brown/black color with 100% opacity. The khaki colored head forms beautifully and rocky right off the bat at 3 fingers. Head retention is not great, but it leaves lace in flecks and specks as it recedes down to 1/2 finger.

Smell : Lots of syrupy plum, fig, and sap...with milk chocolate, oats, smoked & roasted malts, and macadamia. A burnt brown sugar note finishes out the sticky aroma. I feel like wiping my upper lip from the syrupy stickiness I've nosed. A positive improvement would be more chocolate, but I can't be too picky.

Taste : A bit hoppier than the nose would suggest, but it fills out nicely with rolled oats, sugar plum, and chocolate bar. A lingering light roast coffee bitterness remains to the finish if only to provide a slight hop tilt over the fulcrum of balance. A touch of root as well. The flavor does get to be a tad cloying after awhile with the sticky plum and milk chocolate, but it's not too bothersome.

Feel : Well carbonated, medium bodied, yet still retains creaminess, ends sharp and dry.

Overall : This is a fabulous stout. I'd buy it again if I weren't flying back on a plane (I have to drink down all my bottles within 4 days since it's wiser to pack cans so they don't break).

Is this worth getting? I passed it up yesterday at $3.99 for a single. Love the can art but i'm not a fan of brown ales if theyr'e overhopped.

id say get it. its worth trying and the can art is hilarious. its not bitter at all so not overhopped. it really remided me of a pretty could marzen. i thought it can be classified as a marzen rather than a brown ale. i think it was $3 for a single when i got it.
