Hands down, mines gotta be Ballast Point Grunion. I sometimes get bored with the 'latest & greatest' but I've never had a Grunion that I didn't thoroughly enjoy just as much as the first time.

For me, it is an either or...

    Either Sierra Nevada Pale ale
    Or Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale

I guess if I had to choose one over the other is would be the Sierra Nevada Pale.

    I too like Grunion.

    SN Pale

Alesmith X as well, just hoping it finds its way into the 6 pack format.

Honestly, not to start this whole debate again, but I can't stand the price Grunion sells for and at the places I shop it's been sitting on shelves for quite awhile and I'm sure that's part of the reason.

I mean, really $13.99 -$14.99 for a 6 pack of an APA is a bit much.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I really do like grunion and if it was like $9.99 it would be a staple in my fridge.

Definitely grunion, when i first started getting into craft beers, pales were the first i really fell in love with. Over time i kinda got more into other types of beer, but grunion brought that excitement for pales right back to me

I like the Ballast Point beers I've had but why do most of them seem to be $4-$5 more than most six packs of similar style? I'll buy a six pack but at the price point I won't want to buy another unless I'm really impressed.

Not a shelf PA yet, but hoping that Modern Times Fortunate Island could become one in my region in the future. PLEASE MT, extend your Norcal distro to Sac!

Victory Headwaters. So clean, but earthy.

I've yet to pull the trigger on Grunion due to the price. More a matter of principle than anything else. 12er of SNPA or 6er of Grunion, and the SN is often $1 cheaper. Not a hard decision.

if we're talking "shelf", honestly probably maine beer co. peeper. maybe three floyds alpha king, that's a real satisfying beer.

haven't had grunion yet. might, but my brain seems to have shifted into heavy, BBA goodness for the coming winter.

+1 for Grunion, esp. when fresh, but at it's price point its a one-and-done (6er) for me unfortunately.

Grunion and Fathom IPL need to be knocked down midway between the Sculpin/VaS price point and the Longfin/Wahoo price point, in my opinion... 11-12 bucks... this I could handle. 16 bucks: forget it, not again.

I made this exact point in the thread about the death of cheap beer. But in that case it was Torpedo:Sculpin.

Alpha King if another states "shelf" counts, otherwise I don't really have one.
