Woke up to a balmy 25 degrees. With a predicted high in the mid 40s, and wind, I think I'll pass on golf today.

Good morning BAs! Well, today is the first snow-covered morning of the year - looks like about 1/2 inch. I absolutely HATE winter! Fortunately I've got some decent beer to keep me warm.

One of my numerous favorite brown ales. Robust flavors of caramel, chocolate, toffee, toast, brown bread, nuttiness, and light wood smoke/coffee; with some light-moderate balancing herbal/floral hop bitterness. Nice moderately creamy medium bodied mouthfeel with a smooth finish. A very traditional tasting brown ale, despite having smoked malts. They are not overdone at all.

So damn good. Lightly tart apricot and clove/cinnamon-like chamomile notes; with balanced lemon, orange peel, pineapple, light piney hop flavors; and honey, brown sugar, toasted bread maltiness. Light-moderate balancing bitterness; with a smooth and fairly creamy mouthfeel. Really well executed all around. I already drank a 6 pack of this, probably going to buy more.

Very good as usual, grabbed some more last week. Well balanced flavors of pumpkin, brown sugar, cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg; against a caramel and toasty/biscuit malt backbone. Balanced herbal/spice bitterness on the finish. Fairly crisp and drying spice finish. Very smooth.

Release #40, making this exactly 1 year old! Absolutely insane stuff. Huge flavors of earthy dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, molasses, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, and toasted oak. Balanced bittersweet roasted finish with a fantastic creamy/silky finish. Perfectly balanced between malts, barrel, and coffee flavors. Very smooth with minimal warming alcohol. I love how they mix up the coffee varieties in these releases and list them on the website. There is a very distinctly unique earthy/lightly fruity coffee character with this one than I remember in the past, apparently from Ibis coffee company in Utah. Would be interested in the sourcing of the fair trade beans, because they taste amazing!

Can't remember the last time I had a Sunday morning beer. After sleeping past seven for the last week, the two year old is up too early yet again. Pumpkin picking with the wife's family and then hosting them at our place later, but unfortunately for me, sister in law's boyfriend and fellow BA DHS1029 won't be along to share great beers with.
    So what the hell....

Happy 89th, Chuck Berry. Without you, there might not have been rock n' roll.

Morning sipper - it's in a Beer Camp tasting glass... so it almost belongs here. Big day - my undefeated Panthers play @ Seattle and I'm doing a wee beer share later. Good Sunday morning to you all. Back with actual beer photos later. Cheers!

Some old coffee after taking the mutt for a frosty walk. It may be old and faded, but it's still better than most and taking the morning chill off. Have a great Sunday!

Totally useless Wikipedia fact - Lee Harvey Oswald and Mike Ditka were both born on this date in 1939.

Cheers everyone. Vital IPA. I really like it. I got a lotta chips but I paired today's beer with yesterdays thyme lemon and rosemary pita chips . So far so good.
