A bar that has many, many offerings on tap of different styles. What do you typically go for the majority of the time? A beer you haven't had before? A favorite style? A regional beer that's being featured, i.e., Heady, Pliny, MBC's Dinner, etc.... Or perhaps their featured house brew? Or something else? I seem to always go for a great DIPA, IPA, or stout. Whether or not I've had them before. What do you guys order most times?

I'm always gonna look for something that I can't get in my area. When I was at BierCab last summer I immediately ordered a Westvleteren XII knowing that it may be my only chance to try it.

For me, the whole point of going to a place like this would be to expand my horizons. I'd most definitely go for something I hadn't tried before, maybe even something in an unfamiliar or not-readily-available (to me) style.

If they had Westy and/or Utopias, I'd be all over it.

I always try to have things I've never had before first. Then I will go with old favorites.

I first look for something I haven't tried before, then I go with style or if there is something made locally that piques my interest.

Whalez of course- so that I can then post a pic in the WBAYDN thread and bask in the avalanche of likes received.

In all seriousness, like the others have said- typically something I haven't tried that I know I may never get a chance to try again. This is where price usually tends to go out the window.

Like the other replies, I prefer something I haven't had before, preferably a regional offering. I figure the big national brands will be obtainable at some point in a store.

However I tend to stick with styles I prefer. I don't go for styles I'm pretty sure I won't like, based on previous tastings or descriptions.

Usually I will select 3 beers I really would like to have and settle on two. It's usually going to either be something I have not had but have heard a lot about or one I haven't had that looks intriguing. If I can't come up with two or three must have never tried before beers than I'll opt for something I really enjoyed from a bottle but never had on tap.

See what's on tap. Match that with what I'm in the mood for. Order that. I don't travel to drink what I already know about

Something new or hard to find in a style I like would be my choice.

I will go for one of my favorite styles. That would be an IPA or a stout. Then I will usually look for one I have not had by a brewery I have not tried. And finally horror of horrors the nirvana would be a hyped beer from that brewery. I am human and love to try what other people think is great.

Agree with most of the other posters that I typically get a full pour of something I've never had before that I can't get in my area but, if there are so many things that I want to try that I wouldn't be able to cover them all in full or even half pours, I'll get a flight.

Does it make any difference to you if the beer is in a bottle or can? Or do you gravitate to the drat beers?

Doesn't make a difference to me if it's out of a bottle or on draft, I always just like to try something I haven't had before.

Drink what I like best, depending on mood as to which style.

    1) The best stout on offer; or in the alternative...
2)The best Belgian dark ale or German hefe/dunkel on offer.

Failing that, then I wouldn't consider the place to be that great of a beer bar, haha.
