Even in my short time, when I first joined it was like ZD, Heady Topper, and KBS. Also Maine Brewing Company could do no wrong. Now its Tree House, Other Half, and whatever else New England brewery. At least I can see that these things are cyclical. I

I find it funny how beers go from being the shit to being almost an afterthought. I was out last night at a great craft beer spot and listening to a group across the bar discuss their recent beer runs and what they got. Most of which I hadn't heard of. Mostly small and recently opened Breweries. Then they started hating on pretty much anything that wasn't on their list or very - very recent. Their main target was Heady. When I mentioned that I love Heady they acted like they were the enlightened ones and I was some old dope. I popped a Heady when I got home and you know what - I was right - its still fantastic.

The top beers almost usually had limited availability (Westy?). Come on up and bring some jobs from Texas.

I'm happy as hell that Bourbon Barleywine is low on hype and easier to get than Bourbon GBS. I'll buy as many bottles of that stuff as they'll let me.

This is the new hipster face of the beer scene. Where the only flavor that matters is, "rarity."

For the thread, three beers that are great that are not on the hipster radar:

    Péché Mortel
    Rochefort 10
    Okocim Porter

It's probably best not to interact with those types, not even to give them the time of day. If they do ask, just tell them that it's been superceded already.

    The latter.

And re: OP, most of the ones I thought of have been mentioned, but there was a time Live Oak HefeWeizen was talked about quite a bit, now no one mentions it.

The question was about "since you joined BA", not, "since craft beer became popular".

Considering it was the best thing in the world two years ago, and now I can't even find it on shelves less than 4 months old, I'd say it fits the bill of OP's question.

So much this. I Remember trying to sell my first born child to get a growler of it and then remember not being all that enamored with it when I did finally get it. Sigh........

Actually, it's just over 2 years. I reviewed it on the first week of the release and my review was done 9/27/13. Scary it's been 2 years already.

I still drink Pumking every year, it's still the best pumpkin beer out there IMO. Now Unearthly I totally agree with......fallen off the cliff.

How about Live Oak Hefe? You were a rock star if you brought a growler of that to a tasting back around 2007 or so. Yes, that's right, "just" a Hefe.
