Oh well.....I guess people have poor reading comprehension skills these days....the point of my thread is NOT about seasonal creep and all its iterations.....the point / question is....WHY do people bash pumpkin beer coming out 2 months before fall arrives but not summer beers in March or holiday beers in October - same basic time difference (approx 2 months), but we do not seem to hear all the crap about the other seasonal beers like we do with pumpkin, etc...WHY is that??

Sorry....the logic of your last few sentences above escapes me....huh?? Aren't the stores where you buy beer air conditioned in summer?? About the same as right now, with the heating systems in stores coming on? Around 68-70 degrees?

Seasonal creep is a non-issue for me regardless of the season. I've already bought a sixer of Deschutes Jubelale, I've seen Frankenmuth Christmastown Ale and Celebration Ale on shelves already, and I'll be buying GLBC Christmas Ale and Bell's Christmas Ale as soon as I can find it.

There are, but there's lots that aren't properly kept too. And the trucks, the transport in the summer depending on how the beer is distributed and stored, and so on. I've had so many variable experiences with this that I pay a lot of attention to it now.

A lot of people tend to have a negative perception towards pumpkin beers. Why? I have no idea. Appears it's the cool thing to do.

Winter Warmers, and winter releases as a whole are simply more popular and more likeable to them. I know I basically just repeated what you said, but some people just need something to complain about, and currently that is pumpkin beers.

I don't understand it deeper than that.

I normally comb the discount bins in January and scoop up all the Christmas beers so I can wait.

Not sure if Celebration Ale is a Christmas but I would not mind seeing it in October.

Maybe it has something to do with the spices that that you see in a lot of pumpkin beers. They take my mind to Thanksgiving, more so than Halloween, so for my brain to make that association as soon as August is a little annoying. Summer beers, to me, like Shandy's, I could care less when they come out. Thanksgiving is more sacred in a way.

Apparently you just haven't been paying attention. Every year in mid-january people start bitching about how the spring seasonals are coming out despite the fact that there's still snow on the ground. Every March, people bitch about summer ales coming out 2-3 months early. Every summer, people bitch about pumpkin beers and oktoberfests coming out too early, and every year around labor day people bitch about "winter beers" like Jubelale coming out too soon.

If there's any amplified reaction to pumpkin beers in particular it's because a lot of people fucking hate all the pumpkin spiced nonsense.

It'll be snowing by Halloween here in Colorado, so it is perfect timing.

It is usually released in mid October. Haven't seen it yet, nor have they made any announcements about it. I think this may be due to how popular Oktoberfest is doing and that whole oktoberfest culture this year. Maybe November-January.

Would you rather have early seasonals or none at all?
To maintain a core list of beers is hard enough, throw in One(or 2 or sometimes) seasonals every quarter, also toss in some specialty beers( barrel aged high, ABV, sour) that take longer than the core the juggling act just gets harder and harder.

If this is actually the case it's probably because it's in our DNA. Around here, if it's a bad winter, people can't wait for signs that it's over. Summer on the other hand is a different beast. We have deeply ingrained memories of being out of school and never wanting it to end. We resented every back-to-school sale commercial with a passion. We bought into the fantasy of the "endless summer" because we wanted to. Pumpkin beers rain on that parade. They are a back-to-school commercial.

One year, I procrastinated till the last minute to buy Halloween candy. I went to the store the day before. All of the Halloween candy was removed and replaced by Christmas candy. For cryin' out loud, do they expect me to buy Christmas candy for Halloween? As consumers, we are more accustomed to seeing Christmas stuff in the fall than Halloween stuff in the summer.

Walmart is already setting up for Christmas, it was 60 out last nite when I walked the dog (nice for Houston this time of year). I am sitting here right now eyeing my wall of stouts that have been waiting for me to drink them. It's that time of year

I started to see a few pumpkin beers hit the shelf the last week of July, the Winter beer release dates seem to come earlier every year. Oh well, has Target put up Xmas stuff yet?

Is it OK to jump on a Sierra Snow Pack, with that great coffee stout? I mean, this is Florida, and maybe that would be geographically incorrect. And Celebration? I asked my stomach and liver, and they said they don't care. Bring it on.

Been in the 90's here in az. The fact that christmas beers are even sold here is sort of odd to me. Christmas day i'll be sitting poolside in shorts and a tank top drinking an ipa like it's summertime. Keep your shivering and fruitcake flavored beer away!

I love GLBC's Christmas Ale but I think it's a little ridiculous for it to come out in October, when the leaves are orange and it's not even Halloween yet. Mid November I could understand.
