I have been looking for trades that are local for local, but everyone in the forums post for brews that i would be lucky to see in my dreams. I have been looking to set up a consistant trade partner that i would be able to do some small trades with from time to time. Shipping to and from Alaska is way to expensive to ship large boxes. Does anyone do local for local trades? i would like to get my hands on some of the sours that i dont have access to here in AK, but i dont see many posts for locals if any at all. Thanks

I think the biggest issue is paying the high shipping fee for some local beers. I was interested in do a similar local for local trade with a guy in AK until I found out shipping was going to be $140, the beer was only $100.

For a small trade I'd think you can use a large USPS flat rate box to cut the shipping down to an affordable range. It would have to be for only a few beers, due to box size, but it would be a start.

Yeah, it is ridiculous how much shipping is to and from here. I am hoping that i can get someone that would be willing to do just a couple bottles at a time trade. That is what i do when shipping, i can only ship out a couple bottles at a time so i use usps flat rate, but at least it doesnt cost an arm and a leg.

I wouldn't say we have a lack thereof. There are some great beers around here. I'm sure they don't measure up to prop or bcbs, but definitely stuff that is worthwhile. Thanks for looking, if anyone wants to do a locals for locals, get at me with a pm.

@Glustick - Your best bet might be to join to locals / BIF groups. Alot of the guys there are far more relaxed and aren't concerned with winning like the ISO:FT.
