Hint # 3 - My LIF will arrive at my winner's porch tomorrow. Expecting a pic, followed by some PA distro beer enjoyment.
This does raise an important point: You can only win the #CIF once, so once you've had it you cannot enter to win again. It has to get back to the originator eventually, and we can always set up a 2nd travelling box once enough people have gotten the first one that there's interest in having another... maybe the next one can have a bath towel in it or something.
Might be cool to purchase a SS Growler and ship it around. The First person fills it, Ninja's someone, they drink it via #VBS, sign the growler, rinse and repeat. Look's like there's a nice one on amazon for $26 from Kegworks.....
He didn't win. @MikeMcGraw didn't realize what he had, lol. They were merely red cushions taking up space in a box.
Depends how we define it I guess- I didn't really win the #CIF, I just got the cushions from @Yourahoser and then sent them on to @pnelting which is what kicked this all off. My name is on the cushions though, so I'm fine with sitting it out.
Well far be it from me to stop the Trillium train. Edit: All you Nor Easters are kind generous people who live in the best place in the world.
Ok Guys, I am going to start up a #GIF. Growler it Forward. Please BM your info (name, address, etc) If you'd like to be involved, I'll keep sign ipa open untill the grolwer arrives and I can fill it and ship. Probably untill next weekend. The plan is to: Fill up the grolwer with a quality local breweries beer Ninja off to a random member in the GIF Once they get it, they drink the grolwer and post a #VBS, once empty sign the grolwer with the sharpie / pen included. Additionally, there will be a wrapped "challenge" bottle in the box. There will a typed up challenge that must be completed and proven prior to unwrapping and drinking the bottle. If you complete the challenge please replace a new challenge and bottle prior to shipping along the new box. If for some reason you cannot video or take a picture of yourself doing the challenge due to job reasons, well think up a more appropriate challenge. It would be great to try and turn this around quicker and lastly have fun.
Fair enough, I meant it to be a general point, not necessarily specific to him. The question is, who is the first person to "have to sit out", and therefor is the "originator" who gets it at the end. I'm fine with @MikeMcGraw and @Yourahoser being eligible to participate, and the "originator" is @pnelting, who gets it at the end of the whole thing but can't participate again until then. Also, a point on nomenclature: It isn't really "winning" the #CIF, it's just being "the next recipient", since it is implied that you'll send it back out again it's more of a BIF that you "participate in" than a LIF that you "win". Sorry to be pedantic, but I feel like using "win" could get confusing.
^^^^This exactly. I feel like being involved in the BIF community is "winning". Coolest thing I've done since finding good beer.
Totally agree! As for the #CIF I'll just skip it to let those beautiful cushions fill up with new names.
Womp womp. MA breweries can only fill their branded glass. I guess those of us here can travel up to VT/NH/ME to get something filled...
The only issue I can think of that might get in the way of this is states that don't allow breweries to fill non-brewery specific growlers. MN had that law in place but it was just changed this year to allow for breweries to fill any growler. I think this is somewhat common elsewhere, but we have some breweries in town that will only fill their brewery specific growler, for a variety of reasons. MN also only allows breweries that produce under 30k barrels per year to fill growlers, once they go above that, no more growler fills. So that means no Surly growlers, basically. Oh yeah, MN also doesn't allow Sunday alcohol sales But they did just pass a law this year to allow breweries for fill growlers on Sundays, so that is some progress.
