Me too. As tasty of a Pilsener as I can recall. Right up there with Prima Pils for me.

    Few things:

    1) Completely new beer that is unknown
    2) Not a RIS/DIPA
    3) Most important, it's released over four days. I don't know anything about the people who showed up at eight, but if you had the time, and it appears these guys had plenty of it, why not show up thirty minutes before it's supposed to be sold on Thursday? If it's gone, ask a worker when the line hit it's limit and show up earlier the next day.

Wisconsin is on a different page because no brewery in the state continually runs a one day extravaganza like FFF, Surly, Founders, ect. It's just beer, why kill yourself just for the opportunity to buy beer? I appreciate New Glarus spreading this over multiple days to give people an opportunity to purchase it. It makes me wonder what it would look like if some of these other releases were done this way.

Yes, but it is a sour. Just as, if not more, in demand than an RIS or DIPA. And the staggering isn't necessarily relevant. I mean, Darkness sees distribution in MN (albeit limited), yet the lines are still massive for the release, and they start quite early.

I tried breaking this up twice, but I couldn't get it to quote correctly.

    Two thoughts:
    1) This beer will be gone by Sunday, but the demand isn't there like the Gueuze or Kriek had.
    2) How is staggering not relevant? We've all seen the one day beer releases; they're nuts. If you spread it over multiple days, how does that not alleviate the frenzy surrounding the release?

For all those that aren't happy that non-locals got some, we drove 20 hours straight to get to New Glarus for the release on Thursday. Do you deserve it more because you get to drink their beers every day? I totally understand why all the locals are protective of this brewery, however the owners obviously made a conscious decision to release this over the Great Taste weekend to get some people to their brewery and drive up sales. Judging by how nice of a setting this beautiful building has, Dan and Deb have been making some excellent business decisions.

Not sure who your posts directed at. I have no problem with anyone stopping by the brewery and grabbing whatever they have available, including the R&D releases. My only ask is that you don't stop by all four days and walk away with 8 bottles. Maybe on Monday someone from MA or CA or wherever might stop by the brewery. Sure would be nice if they could get a bottle as well.

Well, when I stopped there this morning around 10:15, there was no line and boxes/shelves full of it. No mass hysteria, no total chaos, no burning the place down. It's not like "they" are taking all of it to horde. Base on my experience there, people shouldn't have an issue picking up a couple bottles if they want them whenever they stop by.

I was at the brewery this afternoon. Still plenty to go around. I might add, the Staghorn was quite delicious paired with a wood fired pizza as well.

Got there today at 1130. Was busy for tours but no one was shopping the depot. No rush at all or lines. This will accumulate and depending how many people stop by tomorrow can possibly last Monday. If I wasn't in a hurry for the great taste I'd stay longer. Beautiful place and area. Will return to spend more.

Why do I keep seeing the same faces in the pictures of the lines on the new glarus Facebook page? Shit, some of you I know are from Chicago, did you really drive all the way up there three or four days in a row with gas at 4 bucks a gallon?

So it was confirmed by Dan Carey at the Great Taste that the R&D Sour Ale is not a sour brown. In fact it's a blend of two batches of the New Glarus lambic.
