Headed to the pub for the first time tomorrow and staying the night at Kern Lodge. Any advice for a first timer?

Thanks, that's the plan. Sounds like the food is good at the pub so looking forward to dinner there.

What sort of advice are you looking for? In terms of the food and beer or like local things to do?

Local things to do would be great. My wife are driving up from Orange County in the morning so will have most of the day in and around Kernville. Thought about driving up the river to the Johnsondale area for something to do. Never been up that way. Can't do much hiking though as my wife is pregnant. The following day we'll head up 395 to visit Mammoth.

Fingers crossed they still have Citra left. But I doubt it. But you never know.
For desert get the hot fudge brownie with ice cream. Maybe with Class X, if it's in tap. Oh...and put in a good word for me for the Citra lottery.

Take the 5 to 14 and turn off on 178 to Kernville. A few miles longer than going through Bakerfield. Plus if your missus is pregnant she might not like the road from Bakersfield. Plus you'll be using 178 to get back to 14/395 to get to Mammoth. And don't forget about hitting all the hot springs in the Mammoth area....Caldera Valley (airport side). You'll thank me later.

Trail of 100 giants is about 20 minutes past Johnsondale; paved trail and pretty flat so the wife should be able to enjoy it. The drive in and of itself is nice. If you are a movie buff the museum in town is interesting, albeit small. Lounging in the park by the river is always a nice option as well. You can also yell at the workers out back to hurry up and get the new brewery finished.

On the drive up to mammoth you should detour through the Alabama hills if you have time, it is pretty unique. A stop off in Bishop and Mountain Rambler could be warranted as well. The wife can always head next door and check out the Ansel Adams gallery if she is tired of watching you drink beer

No Citra or Class X on right now. Ran out of wet hop as well, but we still have a pretty good selection including a fresh batches of Pumpkin, Shuttle Bunny and Dirty Hippie.

Kern Lodge is cool. It also has one major advantage - you can crawl to and from the brewery if necessary. Not that I would suggest anything but moderate beer consumption.
If you want to take some beer home and they ran out of anything at the brewery, there are two places to check out: the market across the street and the Shell station.
Also, just walking around Kernville in the evening or at night is amazing, the town is great and quiet.
    Enjoy!

Excellent suggestions all around. Pours a plenty of Shuttle Bunny and Dirty Hippie in Kernville before the drive up to Mammoth with a great side trip to Alabama Hills. Nothing spectacular at Mammoth with the exception of the 20th Anniversary Brett Ale bottle for off premise. Currently at Curry Village enjoying a Dust Bowl Therapist IIPA bottled nine days ago after enjoying a Shuttle Bunny bottle. Met a nice guy from SF that was kind enough to pour a Cellarmaker he brought up. Made it to the Johnsonville bridge but turned back shortly after. The park next to the Kern river is great but sorry we missed the festivities this weekend. There's a great coffee spot in Mammoth called Black Velvet that's doing pour overs etc.

    Eastern Sierra FTW!

No email for me yet, but I just checked DL#'s on the event page and looks like both myself and SO lost out this release. Here's to hoping I can get in on the fire sale!

Yay! I finally won. Good luck on the flash sale to everyone who didn't. It's been good to me in the past.

I lost! Oh well I don't have to drive all the way from Vegas to get the beer so that is a plus.
