May I ask where you buy your 10# bags? Local or online? Also, I'm assuming you crush at home?

I brewed a "flanders red" (not really 100% to style) and added dregs from several commercial sours, including one JP bottle. I can really only taste the JP characteristics; it seems to have totally taken over. Turned out to be pretty tasty.

I've used it as a base malt in two batches of robust Porter, which were good beers. I then used the rest in an IPA, at about 33% of the grain bill, and didn't like the malt character. It was blended with Pilsner malt though, and maybe it was the blends fault and not just the ashburne.

Corn meal or grits, cereal mashed.
I have been using flaked rice in some PA and IPAs to lighten the body.

    Just thought of two more.

1# Dark Brown Sugar in a stout. Many people here frown upon the use of sugar, especially in a stout. This makes no sense to me. The aroma from 1# of DBS in a stout is something worth sniffing. It probably does something to the flavor too. It also lowers the FG and helps to prevent diabeetus stouts.

Another is Carafa Special 2 in a stout. It smells and tastes like Euro coffee. I'm not a fan of caffeine in beer. Mixing stimulants and relaxants is how Elvis died on the toilet.

Yo betty, don't you include coffee as an ingredient? personally I love the rainbow effect of a super charged RIS with strong coffee.

Blasphemy! The only reason bikers make and consume large quantities of meth is so they can drink beer all night without passing out.

They also die on the toilet 50x more often than people who are capable of choosing vice A or B.

I'm a fan of Breiss Ashburne, too. I've used it up to 30% with 2-row. Only problem is that I order most of my grains from MoreBeer, and they're frequently out of stock.

I like mixing munich and dark munich for stouts or English browns. the dark gives a nice boost to aroma and taste.

No Sir. I can drink an occasional coffee stout bomber, but have never brewed with coffee on account of fear of dying on the toilet.

Idk, I think the whole toilet part was cuz grilled peanut butter/nanner/bacon sammiches. Ever been to Graceland? He didn't have to move too far to fulfill any carnal desire.

Anyways, my secret ingredient? Acorns and maple helicopters. Doesn't matter, fall or spring, I gotta battle these damn trees. I even put up a pop up gazebo/shelter dealio , still have to watch my kettle though if it's windy.

What did they call these before helicopters were invented? I've always called them helicopters.

Tree sperm whirligigs. That's it, that's what they called them.

I'm surprised Rogue hasn't made a peanut butter, banana, bacon beer. I will concede that Elvis may have died on the can because of something other than mixing uppers and downers. This doesn't change my toilet death paranoia regarding consuming mass quantities of coffee beer.

Surely, you must have a secret ingredient, bushycook. Fess up!

It's been a long time since I've used it, but graham cracker is about right. Tread lightly at first, though. It's not something you want to over-do, imo.

What would you say is a good starting point for 6 gallons? 8oz?
