I was in the 12:30 group but had a buddy in the 12 group so I went and hung out. 12:30 group actually got let in about 12:20 and the line was minimal at most for the first 20 mins, then completely empty.

That was my first Dday and it was so much fun. I really hope it won't be the last event. I think everything from the camping to the line control to the volunteers was top notch. Even having to park at carribou. Thanks every and awesome to meet a few of you!

People cutting in line slowed it down. I saw a few do that.

First timer for Darkness Day always wanted to go and finally we went so happy I went to camp out. It was amazing friendly people first person I met gave me a heady topper sample so good! I really hope it isn't the last I would love to camp out again hopefully next year. Found some wet and pentagram on the drive up even more of a bonus to me.

I am a huge South Dakota Surly Nation fanboy so everything Surly does is golden to me though!

Did Surly pass out all the wristbands? I'm wondering if a lot of people got shut out.

Yes, my friend drove over and got in line at 9:15 and the guy had 4 more bands. I'd say there were about 15 total after her.
I'd guess less than 50 people were shut out.
I hung with her in the line and saw several people just leave.

Tastes as good as ever out of the bottle. Anyone going to crack their BBA bottle and post a review?

Did someone say that the distro bottles are still in barrels? Meaning they would be aged a month of two longer?

They are due out sometime in December I believe.

Right, Someone said that...but I thought someone also said that the distro ba darkness was still in the barrels...could just be hearsay

Sorry, I misunderstood. I suppose the bottles for distribution might get some extra time in barrels. I haven't heard or read anything to confirm though.

I don't believe the 3000 total bottle of BA Darkness is correct. Per Todd on the "MN Beercast", they produced over 120 barrels of barrel aged Darkness this year. If they kegged none of it (obviously not) that could mean more than 36,000 bottles of just the BA version.

He also said over 400 barrels total for all Darkness and 25,000-30,000 bottles just for MN + kegs.

Crap, so I should try to maximize trades for my BA darkness now and then just walk into any store in December to replace it?

I wouldn't do it solely on speculation, no. But, there's always that risk! I am guessing there will be a lot of kegs made.

I am just joking due to the seemingly up tick trends in trading these days. My BA Darkness is going no where but my mouth.

OK guys, who brought their grandma/mom/elderly mule? Although I suppose she could just love Darkness and puts that s**t on everything.

All remaining Darkness merch will be for sale on the Surly website soon. Although they still haven't put up any Surlyfest merch online for sale so who knows.

That "Elderly mule" happens to be my mother, shes 71 and this was the second (and probably last) time she will attend an overnight at Darkness day. She does love Darkness, and until she tried Baller stout, Darkness happened to be her favorite beer. She also arrived at noon on Friday to help us feed the Surly volunteers, not to mention spent most of the night cooking and feeding as many people in line as possible. I paid for her beer, she has the beer in her house. You mad you missed out? I could ask her if shed be willing to sell you a bottle or two

Nah its cool brah, I got my alottment at D-Day. If I need more I'll check craigslist or my beer cellar, whichever is more expensive.

That's awesome she's into Darkness and was so benevolent all weekend - thanks for sharing the back story and assuming I was bitching!
