http://trtnj.com/carton-brewing-grows-to-meet-demand-for-its-craft-beers/ Personally think this is awesome. Great for NJ beer!
Interesting, the article mentions them expanding at a different location after issues arose expanding where they are currently at. Wonder whatll end up happening
The good news is that Carton will expand in the future. The bad news is that it appears that this expansion will not be completed anytime soon: “Where the Cartons will build their next expansion is still in the planning stages. The original plans to keep it at the present location went awry when engineering studies show the sand base beneath the soil isn’t sturdy enough to withstand the weight of their equipment. They’ve looked at a few other sites and are still investigating other possibilities, but the loan, Carton says, will be put to outstanding use and continue to employ local personnel.” I sure hope that Augie will devote some thought to ‘cooking’ in somebody else’s ‘kitchen’ in the interim while the expansion plans gel up. Cheers to Carton Brewing!!
Looks like the expansion will take place right next door to the existing brewery; don’t think anyone in Atlantic Highlands is moving anytime soon: “I don't care where you live. You think your hometown has the best pizza, the best burger or the best bagels in the world. And if you don't think your hometown has the best things to offer in the world, you should move" http://www.nj.com/monmouth/index.ss...wery_set_for_expansion.html#incart_river_home
Another article mentions a structural problem and that expansion is still in the planning stage, but I'm not sure if that refers to the spot next door (1st Ave) or the current brewery. "Where the Cartons will build their next expansion is still in the planning stages. The original plans to keep it at the present location went awry when engineering studies show the sand base beneath the soil isn’t sturdy enough to withstand the weight of their equipment. I took it as chronological events happening: The article posted on October 22nd indicated that the present location wasn’t sturdy enough. Then came the article posted on October 28th, which indicated: “For Carton Brewing, the $1.25 million line of credit will enable the company to renovate an older commercial property next door to the existing brewery and to purchase additional equipment needed to expand operations, as well as provide additional capital.” …Safe to assume Carton will be residing in NJ, and making more exotic fluids
I live 45 minutes away from the brewery and hardly ever see cans. Once Carton starts operating from the new facility and is able to keep up with demand in their home state I'm sure they'll start sending cans along with the kegs that PA/NY have been receiving. All I know is I want to live in a world where I can have cans of Boat in my fridge at all times.
Another article about this seems a little more clear, http://www.nj.com/monmouth/index.ssf/2015/10/popular_nj_craft_brewery_set_for_expansion.html Cooler is this old article they link http://www.nj.com/entertainment/dining/index.ssf/2012/11/on_tap_inside_carton_brewing_1.html
@Fezzik1970, thanks for those links (particularly the second link). Augie certainly has a way with words. He kind of reminds me of Shaun Hill in that regard. Cheers!
the building we planned for that site had liquid on 2 floors, the ground won't support that. we are re-figuring the design for something that will work. the fact that this place will be limited in scope to 1 floor of liquid means there will be another building at some point, where that building will need to be is unclear. after this one is up i will be wandering the world tasting water i guess.
Today's Press has more on the expansion. http://www.app.com/story/money/busi...soaked-tips-run-your-own-nj-brewery/74875322/
This. Sit Down Son is not my favorite but does this mean more offerings will start to make their way here? It's a start!
I know a couple of suitable spaces in Berkeley Heights for you. Open here, and I promise to be a fixture at the bar. Please? I was very happily surprised when I was dragged out to the diviest dive bar, and found Epitome on tap. I Love black IPAs, and Epitome destroyed all previous black IPAs I've tried. I will be searching for cans tomorrow.
I don't think so. That was not brewed in house. It was a one-time very large run and it got sent all over. NYC most likely won't see cans until they expand.
actually 3 very large runs, Smuttlabs is gloriously large compared to us, it'll come out a couple more times.
