New Acronyms!!! Black ale aged in bourbon barrels with whole Madagascar vanilla beans and cold press coffee added.

    This sounds delicious.

It was really quite good last year. I'm mad I only bought one bottle.

So this is basically the barrel aged version of this from last year?

    From the program at ABR:
As far as I know there is no un-barreled version of Double Shot. I could be wrong though.

Am I mistaken? I didn't think Double Shot had been bottled before. I have a bottle of Barrel Aged Double Black but I've never seen a bottle for Double Shot. Again...I could be wrong.

You are correct. This is the first time it'll be bottled.

My link was to the beer page for Bent Paddle Cold Press Black with Whole Bean Madagascar Vanilla.

The Double Shot of this from the description basically means cold press and vanilla added aka vanilla cold press. Double Black is the base that they've used that is destined for barrels.

So my thought is yeah, this is basically the barrel aged version of the beer they put out last winter, called by a snazzier name. "The other site" has a better write up of Vanilla Cold Press Black, if you're wondering more about it.

Black and Double Black are different beers and different styles.

I don't think that's correct. This is Double Shot - the beer they've had out at festivals this year (ABR at least). Double Shot is BA Double Black with Vanilla beans and Cold Press. It's 11% (citation needed), hence the double of the beer you linked to.

Perhaps I'm arguing the same point as you and I'm misunderstanding, but I don't believe that this bottle is a BA version of the Vanilla Cold Press (6%).

How about if I say "This is basically the barrel aged, double version of Bent Paddle Cold Press Black with Whole Bean Madagascar Vanilla" (which was f-in fantastic)?

I've actually enjoyed the Bent Paddle Cold Press Black with Whole Bean Madagascar Vanilla more than the pourings I've had of double shot double black at festivals/on cask this year.

I need this beer. Anyone know more about release date and bottle counts? I wasn't able to find a bottle of BA double black last year, it seemed like a really low bottle count for that beer and many stores didn't see any.

Hot damn it, double shot, double black... I can't keep up, I quit!

Was this at least the one at rare beer fest last year or am I just stretching it and never tried this before?

The beer at the Rare Beer Fest was Double Shot Double Black - from the program guide:

Instead of conditioning this beer in a whiskey barrel, they decided to jazz it up a different kind of way.
Adding a double shot of espresso to an already delicious beer will have beer geeks bouncing off the walls
    for this beer! LITERALLY!!!

So this is a barrel aged version of that DSDB and should be fantastic.

which is funny because in Duluth I know it sat around for quite a while. Keyport had it I believe over a month later.

I believe they sold bottles at the tap room as well for that long. I may need to make a trip north for this one, this beer sounds amazing.
