New to Ohio (2015)

    I found Lunch, MO, and Mean Old Tom in Mentor. I bought Lunch and MO ($6.99 each for 16.9 oz bottles -- both were bottled 10/13) and had them last night. While good, they aren't better than our Ohio pales or IPAs, and at that price I will pass on bottles in the future and will probably only have it on draft to see how that is.

    Ohio Senate President had some encouraging comments about the ABV bill.

    “I tend to be a free market guy,” Faber, R-Celina, said in a recent interview with the Akron Beacon Journal. “Wine and other alcohol levels are a lot higher than that. I don’t know why we discriminate against beer, particularly when we have this whole craft beer industry growing.”

    “I personally don’t have a problem with it,” Faber said about increasing the limit. “I don’t think my members do. I don’t know where we’re at. We haven’t had a discussion on it. My guess is that my caucus would be OK with it, knowing my members like I do.”

    Many thanks for this. Everything was still there as of this morning, so I was happy to pick up some Hop Stalker and Harvest Ale. Also, they have Alesmith Viet Speedway on tap. Too rich for my blood at $29.99 for a growler, but I was a little tempted.

    Very true. Looking like it is actually being taken seriously this time though. The craft beer growth just within the state is undeniable, and even the average to non-consumers have noticed the economic impact. Enough so that Miller-Coors felt compelled to write an opposition letter.

    Was this a Vietnamese Speedway for $10?? If so that is beyond a steal. 750ml bottles of Reg Speedway are $11-12 bucks.

    Weilands had Lunch,Mo, and Mean old Tom in columbus yesterday. Not sure whats left, but I know Lunch was gone in less than a few hours. Haven't heard of the bottles anywhere else in Columbus yet. Would love to try some MBC offerings on tap though.

    Does anyone know if Grimm is planning on distributing more to Ohio now? I hadn't heard anything about it until yesterday when I saw rainbow dome on the shelf. Apparently it's been on tap in other parts of Ohio too.

    Wow I think I got a few 32oz at $25 and didn't bat an eye at that pricing. A one off that had never hit Ohio I was giddy about it.

    I think it was just luck that Townhall had it because they will crowler just about anything.
