Yes, it will be a Black Friday release just like before. Though, it's going to be interesting to see how allocations work out due to the bottles being in singles and in a 16.9 oz. format.

 

This is really a question of how is Kahn's handling now that @aasher isn't there. Hopefully they can keep up his great work with this event this year. I will be back in my home state again this year and hope that I will be able to find some!

FWIW...I was at Kahns on Keystone Tuesday and overheard a few guys talking about the release details. I only heard them mention regular, coffee, and BW...talking about a 4 pack reg purchase, with a lottery for an extra bottle of a variant. ..didn't sound like they had the rye yet, but it did sound like they had old stock of last year's stuff too

 

where can you find official cities? any in MI?

Kahn's has a great event, I just can't talk my wife into sitting in line with me in the freezing cold for another year. I will likely be jumping from store to store for a few hours before giving up, going home and popping my first BCBS of the year! My favorite time of the year

 

Do people at this Kahn's event bring bottles to share in line? What time to people start lining up, and, what time does the store open for the release?

My wife is heading out of town at the crack of dawn that day, I will be free to do as I please

Further, should I expect that other stores in the area will actually release BCBS on Black Friday? I haven't been in the midwest for a while but in DC I was able to get it easily for a few weeks and even in the Bay area, I found it last year.

 

Short answer. Yes

I went in 2013 and it was pretty awesome. Got there a little before 0700 and was upper 30s in line. Had a pretty awesome share too. I did not go last year but remember getting up really early (0400 maybe) and seeing on social media that a couple hundred people were already in line so I passed. But I think HopCat (or some other Indy bar) was pouring everything including Vanilla last year.

 

Hahaha, a couple hundred people at 4am!? Sad to say I absolutely believe it. Not worth it to me, I'll hope to score some variants on tap like you said.

That's the kind of thing that makes me long for 2009. Arrived in line at KBS day at 10:30am, bought 6 cases between the 3 of us, had multiple CBS/KBS on draft inside, ate lunch, and made the 5 hour drive home and was on my couch before 7pm. Fast forward a few years, we got there at 6am and got no beer. Unfortunately this is craft beer in a nutshell today, though the good news is there's so much good beer floating around that 4am for BCBS is only worth it to newb fanboys.

No one will receive anything until the week before Black Friday at the earliest. But yes, Kahn's does have some of last year's release that they're saving to help sweeten the pot.

 

Twenty Tap had everything on tap when they opened that day....it was fantastic. hope they do it again...
