Do I understand he contacted you out of the blue for this trade? Do I understand that since he received your box he has not contacted you, but only responded to your attempts to contact him?

I think you may need to phone or text message him, and tell him he needs to get your box out ASAP, and if it isn't out before next Tuesday you will be tagging him here, and changing the name of the thread to Bad Trader, and including his user name.

He may just be one of those assholes who is notoriously slow, especially to new guys. Sometimes these slow guys need some additional motivation. You did right posting this IMO.

 

Since he has your beer *supposedly* to send your way and ignored your messages....why wait to post his name. I say tag them irregardless of how many trades they have. It's been over a month and a half.

 

He has had your package for 6 weeks?! If so, waaaayyy too long.

Before you tag him though, you should gather the details and post them too. How you organized / communicated the original trade (was it a response to a post, a prior trade partner texting, etc...), what was agreed, if there a trade in the system (you don't have an open trade but they delete themselves after a while if no feedback is left), etc...

For these threads it really helps to have all the details and specifics in a single post, so everyone can read it all in one go, and the other person can respond accordingly.

Don't worry if you don't have every detail, this is more about giving people a clear picture of your side of things.

 

I could be wrong, but it sounds like you're saying you've traded with this person before. Your feedback only shows two rates and both by the same user.

 

Tag him. This is inappropriate behavior and it seems like he is taking advantage of a new trader. You sent him beer and he'd "decide" what to send you based on what he deemed it was worth? Then waits 1.5+ months before sending? If there's not more to this story, this stinks.

 

My thoughts exactly. On the surface it sounds like, at bare minimum, an explanation is required from the party in question. I can't imagine having received someone's box and not reciprocated in 6 days, let alone 6 weeks. If the last 2 requests for an update have been ignored, that doesn't bode well.

 

I suggested threatening him privately by phone, and holding off so that he could give the guy a chance to make good, and four days doesn't sound like too long to wait before this guy potentially scams other folks.

Sometimes I think tagging someone as a bad trader without giving the "one last chance" option can push people into being bad traders.

Op said this guy has lots of trades, perhaps threatening him with losing all the good will he has built up will motivate him to action.

 

I agree with @cavedave - assuming you haven't already sent the "hey buddy, we need to close this out - you need to ship this week" you should send that first.

If you have already done that though then time to out them. It is your call on f you have given a direct "hey wtf" message or not

 

What exactly did you send him? Whatever it is, I'm interested to see what he deems it to be "worth." I really hope this isn't a situation where a veteran is trying to take advantage of a new trader.

Also, was the trade system on BA used? I don't see any open trades.

 

Or perhaps *shaming* them (tagging) publicly will enduce more of a threat to follow through.

Not sure what else OP can do since he's already sent messages that continue to be *ignored*.

(42) days + to me seems longgggggg enough, especially with no communication on when the trader in question is going to follow through on their commitment. I'm one of the most laid back people, but this is ridiculous.

 

Yeah, I think it's been long enough. Messages went from being returned to NOT being returned.

OP, was this a trade submitted through the feedback system? I see no pending trades for you.

Pretty clear at this point who the guy is, but I agree OP should tag him.

 

Yep, a guy with that many trades, treating a newbie like this is a little disrespectful...
