Especially since who it seems to be is quite active on the trade boards as of 2 weeks ago and has logged in as of today.

 

I'm not sure why you'd have to do anything more than a simple BM on BA, which I'm guessing is one of your means to message the trader. I realize Twitter is another route, but this should be fun and hassle free. He was on the boards and last seen at 11:23 today.

 

The problem is you have reached out to him several times over BM with no response and he's been active on this site and trade forums. And he's a vet. And you're a novice trader.

Just smells bad.

 

Am I missing something or didn't OP say he's tried reaching out a few times with no response?

 

Send him a BM and tell him if he doesn't respond by tomorrow his user name is going on this thread. Given how active he has been on the site and lack of response to you , time for him to get on here and offer his side of the story.

 

Hopefully there is a good outcome for this particular instance but it must be stressed that the feedback system should *always* be used regardless, even the other party has 300+ trades.

 

@Matthew_Reagor What beers did you send him specifically? And what were you hoping to get in return? If there is anything I can help with from Florida I'd be glad to, assuming he doesn't come through.

My apologies for being vague. My point was that the OP has already BM'd the trader by simple means of communication on BA multiple times with no response. Maybe the OP has sent text messages as well, assuming he got a phone#. Not sure why the OP's friend wanted him to message him on Twitter since he has completely ignored his other messages.

If my math is correct, its been (51) days since the trader in question received his box from the OP. Yeah, life can get in the way sometimes, but you still have to get up in the morning and tie your shoes, go to work if you have a job, change your babies diapers if you have a "little one", feed the dog, etc,etc....Life can't be too bad if you can peruse this site and not have the decency to communicate to your trade partner. Bear in mind that the trader in question had communicated to the OP that everything was boxed and ready to go on 10/15.(hmmm)

It's called responsibilities. Trading is no different, except where it falls in line with priorities. I find it rather ironic that someone with almost 50 trades should be setting an example to a new trader, but instead is going to be made an example of.

 

I've half a mind to tag him myself because I think OP is being far too lenient if what has been presented here is the full story.

I too understand that life comes up. But that excuse doesn't hold much water when the person in question has shown plenty of ability to do other leisure activities like browse this site and check in on Untappd. Maybe take the 30 seconds that you would have used browsing to let your trade partner know what the heck is going on.

Communication is, ultimately, so easy. It's common courtesy.

 

I'm shocked to hear this. I've traded with @SquirrelsBrews before and it was a simple, quick, easy trade. I hope there's more to it than him just going MIA on you. My guess is he's busy with work assuming he is still in the same line of work as before. Either way, he should have responded by now and I hope this works out. I live near him, so what ever you were looking for OP I can gladly help to try and replace, let me know!

Title changed, we will see what he says. Sounds like he's on here a bunch so I'm hopeful there will be a solution soon.

I don't think the whole "life happens" thing applies to this situation. I remember recently there was a bad trader thread where the guy seemed to fall off the face of the earth and it turned out there was a horrible car wreck that killed a family member. That made sense because he hadn't logged on or posted for a while. This guy got his beer on 9/9 and has been active on here ever since. He even posted this ISO:FT on 10/13 http://www.beeradvocate.com/communi...uth-of-eleventh-ft-trillium-ne-locals.344164/. How someone can actively seek out other trades while not fulfilling his end of a 6 week old trade is unacceptable. If there isn't another side to this story or a really good explanation this guy is a must block for me.

 

This really sucks. What the hell is wrong with people?? I have never had this happen to me, but I think I would be livid. Anyone from the Natick, Massachusetts area know this guy?

Thanks, @jrnyc for tagging me. Unfortunately, I don't know if I can be of much help. I will say, what the OP has described does not match my experience with @SquirrelsBrews We set up a quick 1:1 swap right before I moved from MA. He communicated with me throughout (both on BA and through texts) and met me on time with no issues. We chatted for a few minutes and he seemed like a nice guy.

@Matthew_Reagor I still have a cell phone number for him. Feel free to BM me. I know you have a number but perhaps the one I have is different? I hate to see this happen and if I still lived in MA I would be glad to help you out.
