Maybe I'm a bit dense, but I recently had a thread deleted for being a repost. I can only assume it was based on a post I made Wednesday night ISO harder to get lambic. I recently became aware of new de Garde releases for this week and in accordance with my addiction to ticking all de Garde seeked them out. I don't understand how this is a repost as the center piece beer from there original trade was no longer offered and there is a great difference between seeking out A&T to seeking out Cherry blu bu and Cherry raz gose. Clearly other options for the trade will be similar as I have but one cellar. I guess should the rules not then he amended to one post per person per 72 hours as two totally different ISO's on two ends of the spectrum are deemed a repost?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

I inquired with a mod about this. I was told that you cannot have any of the same ISO or FT in posts that you make within 72 hours. I had a post deleted for having a couple of the same options in the FT's, even though I had multiples of the beers.

I know it is tough for them to moderate so many posts, but it can be a little frustrating when I see other guys getting away with very similar offers within 72 hours but I get one deleted because I had a bit of overlap on a FT list.

The unfortunate side effect: if you post an FT:ISO involving lists and you close it quickly, prepare to take a 3 day break from trading. This happened to me as well.

FT- KH in both, hence a repost.

It would be a useful feature for post owners to be able to view their deleted posts, since they aren't "deleted" but rather "Removed from public view". Maybe some sort of Archive. This would help keep track of the "paper trail", so to speak.

Its not that hard to just follow the rules. I don't think we need another feature to look at past deleted content.

That is what I was told before by a mod. If ANY beer from ISO or FT is the same, it is considered a repost. I had this happen when I had posted for things like Assassin/SR71, then a day later Cycle released Pallet 3 and 4. I posted ISO the Pallets but it was removed and I was given a warning because there was overlap in my FT.

All the rules say is "no reposting the same or similar post within a 72 hour period". It seems like a big jump from that to this:
If the standard is really that any beer in the ISO or FT being the same makes it a repost, it would be helpful to have that explicitly stated in the rules.

This is what it has come to, people like to try to squeak the system every time we make a rule.
    But i value your opinion.

Very much agreed. That was my argument as well. I do see why it is likely policed this way though. "Similar" is very subjective and some people may get upset if their similar post was deleted yet one that someone else posted is left because it was deemed less similar. This makes it less ambiguous and likely stops people from complaining about something being unfair.

At this point it might be better to just have a hard-and-fast rule of "no more than one ISO:FT post every 72 hours", enforced by the system. A lot less moderation needed and it would force people to be more thoughtful about what they post.

^Agreed. I messaged @blue-dream this morning about this exact same discussion we're having here...

@Todd Can we do this or some variant of (e.g., including the same beer more than once in a 72 hour period risks the removal of that post, etc...) ?

If it makes things more clear and our job easier, I'm all for it.

I usually just keep walking past these types of strings but every once in a while ...

    1) This is ALL a privilege, not a birthright. And beer -- and most assuredly, beer-trading -- isn't on the hierarchy of needs. Wants? Hell, yes! Needs? C'mon now ...
    2) Your lives are somehow set adrift if you can't go 72 hours without posting a beer-trade request?! I love beer with the best of 'em but GOT-damn.
    3) We need a highly codified system to help guide those who do feel the need to post daily? "It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is."

A person asked for clarification on a rule. People were following the rule to the letter of the law yet that is not what was being enforced. The mods have confirmed this and asked for the written rules to match the enforced rule. Nobody is saying it is their right to post the same thing every day. You built up a straw man argument in this thread and made yourself look silly in the process.

I got caught by this same thing within the last month. I asked the mods for clarification and they told me that no beer from ISO or FT can be the same within 72 hours. I agree that isn't what the rule says. I think some people who don't normally break the rules are getting caught up in this one because it isn't clear.

Yes. I'll update the rules and send an alert tomorrow AM. Something like: "You may only list a beer once every 72 hours." should be clear enough.
