    Hi everyone,

I've been involved in a very long and drawn out trade and now the other party has stopped responding. Wanted to get some advice from the trading community on how to handle this before calling the other person out. Here is my tale of woe...

I posted an ISO back in June and we settled on this trade
Me: ba blackout, Ba boris, omnipollo hypopompa, bbpt5, westbrook 4th anni
Him: JK nocturn, JK coquetier and 2 yellow rose

My box arrived safely to him in June. His box was not delivered; he said he was told by Fedex the box was damaged and they tossed it out. Sucks but unfortunately it happens. He was initially very responsive, offered to replace the beers. Although he said he didn't have another nocturn he would send me an atrial to make up for it. After a few more messages, the next day he says he doesn't have any JK fruit beers but offers two JK provenances and the 2 yellow rose instead. Although that wasn't the trade we agreed to, I felt bad that his box was lost and agreed to it. He also said the yellow rose he has isn't fresh anyone but offers to send the JK provenances and "extras" and wait to ship the yellow rose. So now it's mid-July and he sends the two JK provenance bottles.

Up until now the communication has been great, and I have no reason to think he won't send the yellow rose shortly and complete the trade. I leave him positive trade feedback.

Then things start to break down. I get no messages from him for 2 months so I send him a reminder in early September. He says he forgot about the trade, but will send the bottles shortly. I don't hear from him for another month. I message him again in early October (this month) and he says he is going to Jester King for a bottle release and will buy the yellow rose there. I get a message from him on October 13, saying he bought the bottles and will ship shortly. I've sent him several reminders since then on BA and by text on his cell phone and no response. He hasn't been active on BA but did post an ISO:FT on October 16 according to his profile.

At this point I don't care about the beer I'm just annoyed that this has been so drawn out. I suppose life and other circumstances could prevent the other trader from completing the trade, but he hasn't been in communication much for several months. So should tag this trader?

I would tag him; you've been more than accommodating by giving him as much time as you have, and his responsibility lies with following through on the trade as you have negotiated it. If he has an issue with 'forgetting' about an OPEN trade, then maybe this thread is the 'reminder' he needs to make this right finally.

I agree with @jolly_lynch - this person needs to be tagged. You have been more than accommodating and patient in this situation. I feel like this person knew these were beers that they couldn't easily replace and has been stringing you along hoping that they could come up them instead of just being honest and shipping you your beer back. The fact that you only got "half" of your trade over three months ago is appalling.

I've been keeping up with @Beergeeksa210 since he flaked on another trader I know, I would see him post ISO and FT of the same beer in different posts. I've seen him have 11-12 pending trades while still posting, so I just feel that he may have over extended himself, but no excuse for not having open and constant communication with traders and at the end of the day fulfilling every trade you make

Thanks for feedback. I would have felt bad about making a fuss if this was just an isolated incident.

Oh man, that sucks. Very sorry for the hassles.
This guy needs to drop a porch bomb overflowing with apology beers asap. 4 months to get you beers and now he stops responding? Unacceptable in every way.

11 or 12 trades at a time??? This trading turns into a sickness for some people. I never thought to see how many open trades a prospective trading partner has, but this maybe a good practice to look at. Would also be nice to have a feature to see who the other traders are, in a situation like this would be good to tag the other people trader in question is trading with to see if they are getting dicked too.

Sounds like he got over extended but that's not an excuse because plenty of people do that but still make good (including me when I started out).
The subbing 2 Provenance for a fruited sour doesn't sound right either, the 750 JK are far easier to get than the fruited sours & if he's close enough to run up to JK then he can get the next fruited sour. I'm in TX for work (~1 hr away from JK) and in 3 weeks I've been able to pick up 8 Aurelian Lure's & 2 BDBDB (so far) while staying within limits & not using mules; this is the 3rd weekend JK has had Aurelian so save Atrial & MvB he should be able to replace the Nocturn w/something similar

Sounds like he is trying to get out of completing his obligation, probably hoping you will accept the two replacement beers he sent as completing the trade. Hopefully this thread will motivate @Beergeeksa210 to make good. I will try to be hopeful about it.

If this doesn't work out, send me your address, I will send you some IPA as good as, or better than, Yellow Rose. (Not dissing Yellow Rose, calm down folks, I really like it, but if it was available around here it would barely be in the top 15 I can get. Seriously.)

Not only that but maybe a limit on open trades might be in order. I know that in this situation positive feedback was already left even though the full trade wasn't completed, but in other instances I feel like it might prevent people from having too much on their plate. Like the trader in question, if you have that many trades in the works at the same time, it becomes easier to forget about trades and space on what specific bottles you owe to whom. I think a limit of 10 open trades at a time is more than reasonable. Just a thought.

The problem with this policy would be that it doesn't account for people who don't follow through with feedback which gets stuck as a permanently open trade. I have 4 "open" trades right now but three of them are people who got their boxes long ago and don't seem to have any intention of following through with feedback.

This is true. I too have one open trade and the other party is slacking on leaving me feedback. Yet another issue that's been addressed but a solution still hasn't been found.

We get fresh shipments of Yellow Rose here in Austin weekly or sometimes every other week, so completing this trade is as simple as popping over to the store and grabbing a few bottles. No matter how overextended you might be, it doesn't get much easier than that.

Also, you got screwed by him subbing the Provenance bottles for Nocturn & Coq. Provenance are good beers, but they also distribute to shelves, so it's not an equal replacement.

If he doesn't come through and you still want some Yellow Rose, hit me up and I'll grab a few bottles for you. Ridiculous to blow a trade based on that.

The real question is whether or not it's too late for you to edit your feedback. I feel this definitely warrants negative feedback. Nocturn and Coquetier could easily be traded for locally so that he makes good on the original trade and, that part aside, Yellow Rose is available almost every week at the brewery.

Yup. And it takes literally ten seconds to give feedback. I suggest--and I'm not kidding--locking people's accounts who have one or more open feedbacks to complete in trades where the other party has completed theirs. Tough love. If you can't give timely feedback, you don't deserve the privilege of trading. Period.

Back to topic, boot this clown back to Reddit. Everything about him raises my BA ire.
